Just been to the restaurant last night and the three course meal was excellent. Menu choices were varied and interesting. Everything was well cooked and nicely presented. No loud music so we could talk. There were 6 of us. Not back to the busy atmosphere from years ago but this will come if they keep these standards and more promotions.
Went to visit Vardon’s restaurant at Shaw Hill for Valentine’s Day as I was given vouchers. Only one menu to choose from which was the Valentine’s set menu which had no price on it- no explanation provided when asked about other menu. Food way way below average. Paid for the meal using the voucher - Poor communication between staff. As we were using the gift voucher, the waiter forgot to take his name - but he was tall and appeared to be the head waiter said that the voucher needs to be checked by the receptionist. We waited for 10mins and asked the same waiter what was happening after 15min, which he advised that the ‘other’ waiter was looking into it. We waited another 12mins and still no news. I went up to the ‘other’ waiter who was meant to be dealing with it, which the waiter then said that it was all sorted. No one had the courtesy to let us know that it was all sorted - the ‘other’ waiter did say sorry . Quite poor seeing as the restaurant was not busy at all. Overall, disappointing experience and it was not cheap, £90 something pounds.. was a joke. I would advise others to go and spend their money at boars heads and royal oaks. Given the match of bad services along with bad food, one star actually is for the effort made by the waitresses.
Brilliant evening. The booking agent got our reservation wrong so we turned up 1 hour before the restaurant opened - even then we were looked after and a tablet was arranged. Excellent food; first class service from Craig, Oldie and the team
My wife and I dined with friends at Vardons on Saturday evening. The views of the golf course are stunning and the food and service was excellent. I'd highly recommend the King Prawn, Scallop and Mussels from the a la carte menu!
Recommend by a friend, went for Afternoon Tea, service was great and the home made chocolate brownie was fantastic. If you are looking for a special treat, this is the place to go. They even do vouchers and spa days - great Christmas present!!
Fantastic food in a lovely restaurant, the food is delicious, the service was, as always by Paul, professional and attentive. We had a three course al a carte. To add to it the views are lovely. Thanks for a great evening, and we will visit again soon.
Very poor indeed, I would not recommend here, the standards against the cost is a joke, once this was the place to eat as the standard was very high, watery frozen ham hock, cold bought in bread, butter so cold could not use it, thin beef slices cooked in gravy but served with a pepper sauce weird! served as beef rump, both under and over cooked veg, triple cooked chips in a too cold fryer thus very greasy, the apple pie was not fully cooked part raw pastry, dirty unpolished knifes and forks, disaster!!
Excellent Sunday Roast with the family. The food is exceptional. Thank you very much.
Excellent food and friendly staff. Beautiful views of the golf course too! I highly recommend!
We visit Vardons on a regular basis,food is always top class,staff are great, nothing to much trouble
