We arrived at our room two hours after check-in to find there was only one child bed when we had booked two. Reception switched us to another room, but it was still being cleaned. When we finally entered, it looked like only the sheets had been changed. The bathroom was disgusting and the previous guest's towel was still hanging up. The bath had a dirty shower mat in it, which I regret looking under. This new room was apparently an upgrade because it had a sea view, however the condensation on the windows and moldy window frames spoiled that.nThe following day we asked for our room to receive a more thorough clean. The reception staff obliged, but then nothing actually happened.nOther complaints include the floor above us being incredibly squeaky and the lift not working. On several occasions, other guests I think? would try to enter our room or knock on our door.nThe reception staff were very friendly, but actions speak louder than words and it was a shame they couldn't get our room cleaned properly.nIn conclusion, I was expecting a basic hotel for the price, but not a smelly and dirty one.
Would never stay here again unless it had been knocked down and re built! Booked 3 night stay, on arrival , outside was filthy and cigarette end's everywhere, looked like a derelict building.Booked in by generally pleasant receptionist, eventually found the only lift , which was very small and filthy.Went to our room after a hike through the dingy ,smelly corridors The room was very small.and only a small lamp on, put main light on and opened curtains...ughhh, window frames rotting and full of black mould, couldn't see through glass, filthy.Carpet stained, and generally dirty. Only one plug socket so had to unplug kettle to charge phone and laptop. Bathroom was freezing cold, after taking a shower saw the state of the shower curtain, and really wish I hadn't,it was beyond disgusting, full of black mould and stains, looked years old, needless to say didn't use shower again. Breakfast was very basic and not much choice,no fried eggs, queue, and long wait to replenish empty dishes. On plus side, bed was comfy and clean, towels clean as well. How ever much you pay for a hotel, you should at least have minimum standards of cleanliness, and unfortunately this travel lodge is a very long way from this, such a shame as it is in a great location. All in all, would never ever stay here again
First room dirty, moved into another room, better but not great - stain on duvet and dirty cups. Nearby lift not working so either stairs to 4th floor or having to walk the length of the floor to get into the small rickety lift on the other side, disappointed with this stay. Didn't try food the dirty rooms put me off!
This is an absolutely disgusting place to stay. The bathroom is outdated and it smells of rancid sewerage. The sockets didn't work. The hallways were un hoovered for the 3 days we were there. We also heard other guests saying the exact same as us. Don't bother coming hear.
Credit, where Credit is due;nYes the building is dated and the cracks are starting to show but the price reflects that. We booked a family room last minute at a very reasonable price. The location was perfect and noise wasn't an issue. Nice big rooms and fresh essentials. Great for bolt hole stay, whilst you get to be so close to Scarborough main attractions. Note- Palm court car park is much closer. We could not find the recommended carpark which was cheaper but a lot further. Would stay again when visiting.
