Looks a bit worn from the outside. But well looked after inside with good decor and a fantastic staircase. Dinner and breakfast were both good. Parking is the only problem as they don't have a car park. But if you park in the local NCP (about 10 mins walk) you get a 30% discount and it costs about £7 per day. Hotel is well positioned for shopping and sight seeing.

This is an old style hotel with colonial style features, remarkably in reasonably good condition,as these hotels Can cost a fortune to keep up with. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good rather than outstanding. Our room was spacious , clean and warm enough for a February evening.

We have stayed at the Royal hotel in scarborough many times and in most of there beautiful rooms over the years. Staff are always very attentive and friendly. Some of the reviews I've seen are totally untrue. Fantastic place and home from home.

Used to stay here in the 80s and was a great hotel, looks a bit grubby on the outside now. Dirty windows etc, I really wanted to stay here on my recent visit but some of the reviews put me off. I opted for Premier Inn, 1 minute walk away.

Food is very poor cold and just cheap products used. The bar staff are sluggish polite but very slow no get up and go. The room is very small cob webs from lights and smoke alarm. Some of the waiting staff polite some very up there own. The only thing I like about this is the view of my lady opposite me on my table . Very abrupt order a pint have to pay there and then no tab no waiting till after meal. Sent main meal back as undercooked and like said before cheap produce. Would give half a star if I could. Come on guys sort it out asap.
