Four Star Luxury hotel on the Yorkshire Coast

Story

The only 4 star hotel on the Yorkshire coast; under an hour’s journey from York, Hull, Middlesborough and Leeds; making an excellent base from which to discover the real Yorkshire; the dales, moor and coastal hamlets. The hotel dominates the centre piece of a listed Victorian terrace which commands the finest cliff top location of any Yorkshire coast hotel. Looking south to Flamborough Head and north to the castle and Harbour and vistas of the sea and South Bay beach. The “Scarborough Spa Theatre Complex” is very close and the vibrant town centre to the North is just a short walk along the quiet and exclusive South Cliff Esplanade over the iron built “Spa Pedestrian Bridge” which towers above the “Rotunda Museum” and “Aquarium Top."

Nice hotel, clean rooms, good facilities. Beers are a bit on the pricey side! All staff are friendly and helpful. Restaurant was superb - really good quality. Catered for gluten free with real enthusiasm - we felt very safe with their care - really good service in this regard. Fantastic views from our room.
Location was perfect only a 10 minute walk from the beach. All staff were lovely and friendly and extremely helpful in editing dishes for my allergens. Food was delicious. Room was compact but tidy and clean with a comfy bed and pillows. The view from our window was just pipe work but that’s on us for not requesting sea view and was a great price to include the spa. The spa was lovely very much enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. Would 100% stay here again, we only stayed for one night but would definitely stay again! Fair price for parking on site also for ease. Extra props to the lovely bar and restaurant team chatty and helpful and made all the difference to our stay!
Mate, that place was a total dump!nnThe spa was filthy, the jacuzzi was freezing, and the steam room wasn't even steamy. It smelled like a wet dog, and everything was dark and dingy. It looked like it hadn't been updated since the 1970s.nnThe showers were rank! I actually ended up coming home to shower, mould up the walls and mud and shit on the floors. I certainly didn't come out feeling clean and refreshed.nnThe afternoon tea was a joke. They didn't ask about allergies or sandwich preferences, and the staff was completely clueless. One person took our drink order, and then another person came over and asked us the same thing a minute later. The drinks were flatter than an old ladies arse.nnThey sat us in one area, then asked us to move, and then told us we could sit anywhere we wanted.nnWhen we asked for a box to take the cakes home, they gave us a paper bag and said that was all they had. They didn't even give us any tin foil or cling wrap to line the bottom of the bag or wrap the cakes up in.nnThis was a birthday treat, a time to relax and give myself a bit of self love.nnI never stayed in the hotel so I can't rate that side, however if the spar side of things were this grubby. I wouldn't even dream of going into the hotel. God knows what's going to be in those bed sheets.nnI couldn't wait to get out of there.
The hotel is lovely but there is room for some improvement. I found some of the staff a bit rude and not very friendly. Customer service is needed in the hospitality industry which I'm in myself. Two members of staff where really nice Ashley was one of them. Ashley was very polite and customer focused I could tell he cares about the job and the customers. He was friendly and has a great sense of humour. The other member of staff was the lady on reception her name was Gina. Very helpful and polite. I enjoyed my stay but there could be some improvement to staff and cleanliness of the room as this is a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was ok but the hot food wasn't hot enough 63 is the holding temperature for hot food. I had all my evening meals there over 3 nights. The food was nice the portion sizes were good so your full. Only complaints was the Potato and Leek soup lacking any flavour at all. The chocolate and orange pot tasted to bitter and I couldn't taste any orange.
Visited before & always had a sea view room. This time we had a back of building car park view which didn't bother us but the room was very small, very warm no AC or fan. Wonky furniture, uneven floor, no bathmat for the shower/bath I fell while having a showernSpa area is bit shabby plastic chairs in the sauna/ice room/steam room area. Treatment room areas a lot better, more relaxing.nBreakfast was good but the room was cold too much AC.
