Perfect place to stay in for a night. Little inconvenient for pick and drop. Discount offered from the hotel to nearby paid parking. Room was as good as in the picture neat and clean. Enjoyed a stay with my family.
Please be aware, this hotel houses longer term residents on behalf of the local council. I understand the need for this sort of accomodation but strongly feel we should have been advised of this before we booked. If you are a lone female or a group of females, seriously consider not booking this hotel. On return from a night out with my husband and 2 other family members, the lift doors opened on our level to a couple of men smelling of weed and mumbling to each other heads held close with roll ups in their hands. We felt unsettled by it, if I was alone, I would have felt very vulnerable and frightened in my room and in the corridors. Staff are very good but it doesn't make up for people hanging around the front door and the reception area.
Had a complaint where they put us in room 101 which is a double, the tv is not on the wall but on the table to the side and fixed meaning the second person in the bed cannot watch tv. Absolute stupidity whoever designed the rooms. Spoke to a really nice guy I didnt take his name but wore 3 loom band bracelets on his right hand. He manages to find us another room and was super helpful. Not his fault that travelodge designers are complete idiots and must be a challenge how many people complain about it, his a credit to the company.nnAs for the hotel, its current going through a refit does smell of paint in the stairwells but rooms dont. The car park is actually across the street not on site in a large multistorey from the main road at the traffic lights.. The room we ended up in was clean, and airy, the staff friendly and helpful. Haven't actually slept yet bit the beds are comftable.
Do not let the exterior put you off booking this hotel work going on at the building next door,once insideTravelodge is,clean and the staff are polite and professional,my room was very spacious,clean,bright and airy,bathroom was spot on.Breakfast was well cooked and presented with lots of choices.Hotel itself is less than 10 minutes from the train station,5 minutes from the local bus stops and National Express coach stops.The town centre is also near by.
I booked this hotel for a bargain price with very limited expectations. We ended up with fantastic customer service, tasty beer in the bar, a comfy bed, great shower and an all round great nights stay. Well done team Travelodge - absolutely no negatives from me or my wife! Thank you.
