Firstly we stayed for 3 nights and it was great, also the hotel it situated in a convenient area which is a 30 - 40 minute walk from the city centre. The continental breakfast was excellent with a variety of tasty foods on offer and the other hotel meals are too! Lastly the only issues we had was the sink was excessively slow to empty and even got blocked, curtains and bathroom wall needs a bit of a clean. Overall a nice stay!
Very basic hotel, staff helpful and polite. Door from 1st floor to lift/stairs absolutely filthy, tried not to touch. Rooms very small. Mattress had no support. You have to eat hotel food, you can't bring food in from outside or they'll through you out. The best part of the overnight stay was breakfast, hot and plentiful. Won't be going back.
Reception staff were more interested in setting up tables for breakfast than checking guests in. Bar closed early without warning and wouldn't even let staying guests order, which contradicted the information in the room. Breakfast was good and the breakfast staff were far more friendly than the receptionist was. Hotel is located down the bottom of an industrial estate. There is a good bus service into the town centre, once you find the shortcut to the bus stop. As Campanile hotels go; I preferred the Liverpool branch.
Don't expect air conditioning, but not even a fan. Room was over 30 degrees in the night! It was clean though. Next morning at breakfast was a farce. They had booked a coach load of people for breakfast at 8, but the food wasn't ready and they couldn't cook it fast enough. Long queues of annoyed people trying to get breakfast. I waited 45+ minutes for a buffet! Clearly a shortage of staff and/or equipment. What I can say, as a saving grace, was it was good quality and you knew it was fresh!
Last Saturday my hubby and myself stayed for a night, it was a last minute anniversary surprise. I was a bit peeved because the last 2 hotels my hubby booked were total Dives so I told him not to book again, leave any hotel booking to me but he went ahead and booked this anyway, I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought that at that low price it would be a right hole but it was anything but. First there was loads of parking space on site, we were very warmly greeted by the lovely Aga. We went to our room which was bright, airy, clean, modern and most importantly for me, it did not smell of damp or stale wee. It had everything we needed and what it did not have enough milk sachets and coffee, we were able to request from the reception. The staff were lovely, the hotel was stylish the breakfast was spot on, even the food at the KFC over the road was amazing like KFC used to be back in the day I can't think of any negatives. Thank you all for a lovely stay. We definitely want to come back and are recommending you highly to our friends, family and colleagues.
Not a bad place to put your head down for the night. My only gripe was, not being able to connect my mobile phone to anything in the room to get it fully charged for use the next day. Please note Even Travelodge has this facility.
Okay, so overall, this is a good hotel. It is very inviting, with a clean and modern reception area and restaurant. The staff really made it for us though as they were REALLY friendly, from the moment we checked in and were really good with my 6 year old son....especially the lady at breakfast time, I wish I got her name Portuguese lady. The rooms were nice and clean and were a decent size too. It was nice and quiet, no traffic noise and we didn't hear noise from the other rooms, so can't complain there. There are just a few things that prevent me from rating this hotel higher: The beds are extremely uncomfortable, rock hard. I slept awfully both nights. The pillows were not great either, very thin and you are only provided with one. If there were some spare stored then this would have helped. Our room was like a sauna as there was no air con... Which, is fine, and I didn't expect air con but there wasn't even a fan which would have been adequate, which other hotels tend to provide. I think because it was so hot and stuffy, the room did have a stuffy/musty smell. Lastly, my advice is, if you have children, do not pay in advance for breakfast! I paid extra for a breakfast included rate only to find out when I got there that children eat free so in effect, I had paid for my sons breakfast when I didn't need to. That said, the breakfast was very good. You let them know in advance what cooked items you want and they bring it out to you though, as a vegetarian, I wanted both fried and scrambled egg but was told I could only choose 1. Then, there is a continental buffet with a huge range on offer. All in all, good hotel with EXCELLENT staff. I just think if they spent some money on upgrading the mattresses, this would make this an excellent hotel.
Great value, staff very helpful, beds comfy and breakfast tasty although not as well stocked as usually experienced elsewhere, but I think this is to stop wastage and food cooked for buffet according to time you select for your breakfast- we were ten mins early. Towels and bathroom clean. No air con and windows don't open much for safety but this would not usually be a problem, it was 34 degrees here yesterday which made it a little stuffy but I'm sure it would be the same anywhere in these temps, plus the receptionist gave us a fan which was helpful. Right next to shopping like m and s food hall, b and m, next. Great Greek place 5 mins away caution taxi costs £8.50 one way if you want to eat out.
Spent two nights here for a quick trip. Didn't use the bar or restaurant as I was visiting friends, but the room suited my needs, somewhere comfortable, nice and clean and a comfy bed.Rooms: 5/5
I would like to thank ms Molly for her excellent service she was extremely good and made us comfortable during our stay at the hotel, but extremely sorry to say the morning staff Ms Aliona was not at all approachable and was not even keen to see our face to respond to the queries. I would give 5 stars to the hotel but Aliona really disappointed me.
