Holiday Inn Express Swindon is a reasonable choice for travelers. The hotel’s location is its strongest asset—situated in the city center with the train station within walking distance, making tourist attractions easily accessible.nnThe rooms are quite cramped for two people, and the standard amenities are merely adequate. A significant drawback is the insufficient number of electrical outlets, which becomes problematic when you need to charge multiple devices after a long day of sightseeing. There are no ironing facilities for pressing clothes.nnThe breakfast offering is disappointing, with limited variety and uninspiring menu options that fail to provide a satisfying start to the day. Halal food options are not available or clearly marked separately. Staff are sometimes slow to refill food items.nnThe lounge and reception area is cozy. However, the entrance has stairs, which creates significant hassle when carrying large or heavy luggage.nnThe parking facilities are inadequate, with limited space for arrival and departure. The availability of wheelchair-accessible parking and facilities is unclear.nnOn the positive side, the reception staff are genuinely welcoming. The team is cordial, cooperative, and approachable, providing excellent customer service that partially compensates for the hotel’s physical limitations.
Room was extremely clean, comfy bed and lovely walk in shower. Compliments to the cleaning dept.Didn’t hear any noise from next door. We were a tour group so as I was first floor decided to walk up but there were loads of steps even though was only first floor so suggest you wait for the lift. Breakfast was ok but I didn’t feel the scrambles eggs were real eggs I know that sounds silly but they might have come out of a carton. Only stayed one night and was fine but if you have mobility issues, yes the lift comes to the entrance but at times it was easier to use the steps but I would say it’s a no if you don’t walk well. No hub sockets to charge your phone so make sure you take a plug so you can use your own charger.
A reasonable location and pricing that is expected for my favorite brand. Two restaurants nearby are nice.nnHowever, and however, it's service, attitude, especially parking are definitely undesirable and dopped it to the lowest on my list of any IHG in the world yes, I have traveled 17 years loyally with IHG globally.nnOnsite parking costs £8 but is always full. The advertised offstreet parking is convenient, however, expect to pay £9 instead of £6 provided the APOCOA app couldn't download on US phone, and still wouldn't even after I bought and used UK SIM just for this damn parking! Please don't use the pay-as-you-go, because the discount does NOT work. Pictures are attched.nnThe hotel staff is absolutely no help on this matter - The night shift manager is a condescending and rude young man - dishonest, incompetent and unwilling. He refused to check me out due to my dissatisfaction, hence, I filed a formal complaint to IHG. Dealingnwith him is costly andbpainful, so he should not work for IHG brand! The day-shift frontdesk manager - who was there for 20 years - has salvaged my rating from 1 star to 2 provided her helpnnSwindon used to be an international city I have sent engineers to and from, and now it left me with an unforgivable disappointment.
The room was clean, tidy. The shower leaked all over the bathroom, once it got to a certain height in the shower the water just poured out a gap, also unusual not to have a shower with a door on it so that didn't help.nnService was good, staff were polite and friendly at check in and when telling them about the room. New starter was being trained and he was clearly anxious but he was friendly and tried to do his best.nnBreakfast was okay, some of the items were over cooked, or empty when we got there. Little alternatives in terms of milk.nnThe whole stay it felt as though the hotel were short of staff. It seemed like one member of staff was responsible for doing everything at times.nnLocation quite central, no parking and can be a bit of a walk if no spaces near by. Overall about what you'd expect from a holiday inn express - didn't wow us, and was good enough for our one night.
Lovely, reasonably priced, well serviced hotel, room's were spotless and well serviced, bed was so comfortable the wife wanted to take it home. Communal area's of the hotel once again spotless and well serviced, staff friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was very well presented and restocked as and when needed, the bar was well stocked and reasonably priced, the staff again were excellent
