Stayed here 4-6 Feb for a weekend out with a friend, receptionists lovely, location very central, rooms are pretty run down, although bedding was clean surfaces wasn't, chair in room ripped, didn't look good, carpet a bit tatty also. Bathroom floor really could do with a good bleach and scrub and shower curtain replacing as was so dirty. I do housekeeping as a job and know it's hard work but this is basic tasks that should be kept up with, all in all it was a good stay but feel the cleanliness should be upgraded.
Cheap clean roomy central accommodation with supermarkets eateries and drinking places all nearby. Only take away breakfast bags available and no anti slip mats in bath but the guy on reception was very helpful and happy to provide extra towels, tea supplies. In Oct our room needed heating on as ceilings are high but no noise and spacious corridors, sensor activated lighting and secure access to customer lift and staircase which we liked. I've stayed before and will return. Our room had 2 small beds and a king. Comfy mattresses extra pillows decent tv and kettle. 2 chairs are hard plastic and only king bed has bedside cabinets. Good value nonetheless and free parking available on site. Big bonus for us.
Room was large and comfortable apart from the office in the next door building having a direct view in. Shower was very powerful which was great. Easy access to city centre. Free on site parking although it wasn't easy to find the car park. Walkability: Short walk to the museums I wanted to visit, the V&A, McManus and the Verdant. Easy access to city centre.
Rooms are quite good for it just being a budget hotel. Perhaps a little bit more of room hospitality wouldn't go amiss. One tea bag each, one sachet of coffee each, and a distinct lack of biscuits also. The availability of having a cooked breakfast would surely add some sort of pizzazz to this budget hotel.
Seen a lot of people reviewing about the same male 'supervisor' and his poor customer service. Thought I'd add my story. My girlfriend was staying in Dundee for the night for an event. I live relatively nearby, and decided to come up to see her. she had booked a family room with a double bed and a single bed, so we were curious if it was possible for me to stay for the night. Asked the supervisor at check in if there was any chance I could be added to the booking, he said they were full, we explained that I wished to stay in the same room my girlfriend had already booked. He rather rudly said 'no, were full,' despite the pricing being no different per person. Even offered to pay any extras because at the time I wasn't sure. Full by what metric? If this is a matter of company policy, health and safety, etc I wouldn't have cared, I knew it was a long shot to begin with. But there was absolutely no attempt by the supervisor to explain this. I still don't understand why I was refused and if I did I wouldn't be writing this review. I agreed to go back to my home for the night in order to avoid causing any more arguments. He then asked us to register our car on the screen. I explained I had done so earlier when I parked up, got a scowl for that, so I assume we weren't supposed to? I can't be the only person looking for somewhere to park in Dundee City centre and deciding to park up at the hotel. Fast forward to dinner, me and my girlfriend were going out, so I left my bags in the hotel room to save me carrying them with a view to come back and get them. On my way this supervisor glared at me through the window, I can only guess because I didn't have any bags with me and he was expecting me to stay over. Made me feel like a criminal, like I was doing something wrong by leaving my bags in a hotel room, and for the rest of the night felt like I was being watched. I wanted to try to do the right thing and if I was planning to stay without permission I wouldn't have told him, and for the record, I did come back for bags and leave. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially young adults, I cannot shake the feeling that this guy would not have treated us like that if we were older. Can someone please give this guy a talking to, because aside from that glaring fault, this hotel is perfect.
The children loved staying in the Travel lodge. They even wanted us to extend our time of stay when we were to leave. Indeed, we had to extend by an extra day. Rooms: The family room was large and spacious. The heater warmed the room nicely Safety: The key cards are simply wonderful. You can't even get the lift working without them, so extra secure. Walkability: It's located at the centre of the city. 5 minutes or less walk to the city centre. Noteworthy details: The staff were really friendly and courteous. Approachable and lovely.
Fantastic location, around a 10 minute walk to the city centre. Comfortable beds. Welcoming reception staff. Nearby activities: All city centre attractions within walking distance from the hotel. Food & drinks: Lidl only a few minutes walk away. A variety of take away food and pubs / restaurants within 5-10 mins walk from the hotel.
Stayed here overnight. For the price paid, this hotel is fine. It is not fancy, it is a perfectly adequate room with a comfortable bed, no frills. Good to be able to park the car and a 12:00 noon check out makes this perfect for an early morning trip to the shops.Rooms: 3/5
Not fussed on this hotel. Twice I have stayed and Twice I have heard the drunk people outside. Also on the oneside they have a casino . And that was worse. 2am and onwards shouting ect. Staff are polite. Big carpark at the rear of the hotel. Rooms are OK. But same as most travelodge not enough plug sockets. .
I was on a night out with my friends and booked this hotel as it was very close to where we were going out. However when we came in to go to bed, the receptionist was very unwelcoming and questioned us on our booking. He then proceeded to say he didn’t believe us when I told him the name of both rooms that had been booked. He wouldn’t let me go up to my room until I had proof that I was staying in said room. He also made me wake my friend who had arrived earlier and had the same issues to prove that they were staying in a room that they had booked. Then when I went to the lift my room key didn’t work so I went to the reception and he said in a very degrading voice ‘well you clearly aren’t using it correctly ’ which I thought was A very rude and sarcastic way to respond. He also threatened to phone the police on us if we made noise straight after telling him we were going straight to sleep which I found very intimidating as my friend and I came in with a friendly smile and just wanted to go to bed. I would not recommend this hotel especially to young adults due to the lack of manners from the staff and how unprofessional the receptionist acted towards us. Will not be booking again as just felt uneasy and belittle.
