Served beef burger when ordering a vegan burger off the VEGAN MENU. 28 years and this incompetent place ruined that. After taking a couple of bites went to check to be then told it is in fact beef. Doesn’t help having 3 different servers just as incompetent as each other. Clearly the one serving couldn’t read that I’m ordering from a vegan menu. Doesn’t help that they didn’t change the name of the burger on the menu so bad planning on the managers side too. Not just the waiters to blame here. Shocking in 2026 not getting something so basic right.

Here today as a group of 4. Very pleasant food. Had a Beef Stroganoff. V Friendly staff / great culinary atmosphere.

I booked one night, bed only and can't fault it. I was in one of the rooms in the Gillies suites across the road and the room was very clean with comfy double bed, TV, WiFi, coffee/tea and modern shower room. No overnight, parking at the door but plenty within a couple of minutes walk. Didn't have breakfast or use the bar, so can't comment on those but I'd happily go back.

We stayed for two nights as a wee getaway for the annual Eid festival. Never having booked before, we were pleasantly surprised by our experiences - the staff were incredibly polite and co-operative, the food served in-house was fantastic and classically Scottish! and the rooms could easily put international chains to shame. This place is where I had the absolute privilege to experience some of the best en-suite showering facilities in the world, the rooms were spacious and there was an undeniable feeling of calm and luxury. The hotel also has quieter accommodation for the bookish traveller as the town can get quite lively at night. We are grateful to the staff and owners for their services during our trip and will be heading back in the future for more.
