We ate here and the food was good. The husband had ham egg and chunky chips and he was happy. I had the Brixham dressed crab which I found underwhelming especially given that it was £28. The ration of brown to white was 85% to 15% at best which made it very dry to eat. Despite the lemon and mayo it was not the best meal and I had been looking forward to it being Cornish and loving fresh crab. The fries were however to notch and the service was extremely fast. Beer and wine were good . Probably bad choice on my part but I was disappointed. We are a few nights later and had pizzas from the pop up top notch pizzas although we had to wait a while it was a busy night. Would definitely recommend the pizzas.
A little bit pricey perhaps, and we had to wait just over half an hour for our food, but it was well worth the wait! Superb food, and attentive staff. A very busy place, quite rightly so it was a Saturday evening. We shall most certainly go there again. It is dog-friendly, but we only saw one the whole time that we were there.
We were part of a group attending a nearby wedding party and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were polite and friendly. Our room was great with a comfortable bed and lovely bed linen, a large bathroom/shower well stocked with toiletries and good towels. Breakfast was generous and well prepared.
Stayed in the cottage at The Tollgate Inn and honestly… danger level: high.nThe place looks so good you start mentally checking Rightmove before breakfast. Cozy, spotless, and exactly what you want after walking around Bath all day pretending hills are “part of the experience.”nnThen came the signature Tollgate Burger. I fully intended to take a classy food photo for this review… but survival instincts kicked in and it disappeared before my phone left my pocket. Absolute quality.nnTop location, great food, lovely atmosphere, and the kind of stay that makes you accidentally start speaking like you own a countryside pub.nnWould 100% come back. Possibly just for the burger alone.
Called in yesterday for Sunday lunch, we had the lamb and the pork, both delicious and good portion size. Finished with caramel cheesecake and coffee. Definitely a five star establishment, with good parking, clean environment and polite staff, but specifically top marks to the chef for the roast dinner for this visit.
