Food very poor, no way local produce, local spa from the microwave section more like. The place itself is grotty & run down which was very disappointing to say it was suppose to have had an "extensive refurbishment" 4 years ago. Although the chap owner I think behind the bar was very helpful & friendly.. We will not be rushing back any time soon.
Having visited on April 25th,reviewed and promised to go back for Sunday lunch we did so today, May 18th. Opinions have not changed. A quiet pub, not busy and staff friendly. Food was very average, the sort you would produce at home. Two had scampi, ok, I remember scampi in a basket - how old am I. But the salad was forgotten - a mistake but should not happen. I had barnsley chop, good, cooked pink. But lacked something on the plate. Would have benefited from better presentation, perhaps on a bed of potato and parsnip mash - I know it is a pub but presentation is important. Sunday roast, luke warm and looked pre carved ie portion controlled. The veg was as last time, over cooked and a 'mush.' This was also forgotten and brought later. There is more....... I ordered rump steak, to be told after a few minutes that there was non left.....ok no problem, but does Chef not communicate with front of house to say , no rump steak before it is ordered. No change of opinion, average, in fact less than. Very amateurish . This is only my opinion of Sunday lunch, so dear reader, I am not saying do not go, simply try and form your own opinion, but do not go with high expectations. Shame, it has potentional.
Pate starter. Great. Pizza main. Fantastic Desert. Finished me off! Great spot with great service. Get involved!!!
Food is amazing thurs night bottle of prosecco and huge pizza to share 25 pounds well worth it
