The food was well cooked, tasty and very nicely presented, though could have been hotter. The portions of starters and mains were not enough for the bigger appetites, so didn't score highly on value for money. The staff were attentive and polite and we enjoyed the evening.Food: 4/5
Last night we booked a table at the Bay Horse having read Google Reviews, and having checked out the menu on line. My wife and I had one of the very best meals that we have had anywhere. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and made to feel very welcome by Laura, our host for the evening. We decided to skip a starter and just ordered a main course and dessert. I had the award winning Steak pie with ale, followed by Original Sticky Toffee Pudding, my wife had Rare rump of Cumbrian Lamb followed by Lemon Posset. Each plate served was beautifully presented, in generous but not excessive portions. We like to share a little from each other's plates, which is a great cure for 'food envy,' so i can put my hand on my stomach and say the entire meal was superb and we went away satisfied in every way! This is our first visit to the Eden Valley, however, The Bay Horse is another of the many reasons which will undoubtedly draw us back. So thank you David for a wonderful eating experience, please make sure you hold onto your chef and host!

Family had dinner here today. Peas were missing off the dinner for the children. Had to be requested and they came quite swiftly. Carvery offered due to the majority requesting it which was fine but when I booked the table I was told that we were to book from the menu. Which was fine as my partner does not like carvery. When we got there we were told carvery only, oh so had no choice but to stay, our other choice was fully booked. When I spoke to the manager, he said he'd changed his mind without telling anybody or informing us on the Facebook page. Apparently the meat was great but the rest very mediocre.
Sunday lunch consisted of good quality ingredients, presented well. What a shame the soup was " tepid". The vegitables, almost cold. Presented on COLD plates. Hot food is not a big ask!!! A warm plate is a pre- requisite at any restaurant! What a shame !

Had a lovely lunch here today. 2 starters and finished with the best desserts we have had in ages! Biscoff cheesecake and cappuccino creme brulee! Wonderful presentation too. Lovely young lady serving with a smile throughout. Thank you to all at the bay horse, you made our anniversary lunch really special
I cannot think of a better pub meal that I have ever had. The staff were friendly, the environment cosy and the food was of fantastic quality, delicious and each plate perfectly balanced. If you are contemplating three courses I would highly recommend sharing the starter and desert as the portions are extremely generous. Shame we are only here on holiday as this would be in our regular plans had we lived closer.
