This pub/hotel/restaurant is absolutely top class from start to finish top to bottom. Rooms, decor, beer, wine, service. None of these things were anything other than first class. We will be back. for sure

A cosy but spacious pub/restaurant (with ample parking), the wild boar and apple sausages with mash were sensational!

Saving grace in a disastrous weekend away. Booked a weekend away through a travel website without checking the hotel out on TripAdvisor Also booked a restaurant with high quality ratings on TripAdvisor for the second night. The hotel we were staying at (which I won't name) was like Faulty Towers and not in a good way, then to make it worse I forgot the name of the restaurant I had booked for the second night. After looking on TripAdvisor the top recommended in the area was the Pheasant at Casterton and as this sounded familiar was sure it was the one. We turned up 15 minutes early to a sign on the door saying fully booked for tonight, thinking glad we booked, only to find they had no booking for us (we had got a taxi there and booked a return for 10pm,looked like the whole weekend was going to be a disaster ) However they most kindly found us a table and we sat down to some of the best food you could eat. Both our starters were delicious, our main courses were divine and the home made tiramisu was to die for. They also served a excellent selection of Gins with Fever Tree tonics to round the night off. All the staff were wonderful and the standards were exceptional. If we are in the area again this is the place we will be staying and eating at without a doubt. We cannot thank them enough.
