Nice and cozy local pub where I had a local bitter and a debatable Chardonnay suavignon combination of white wine. I didn't eat here but checking the menu shows a usual variety of staple pub food. A snooker table can be found inside for £1 a game.
Had a fantastic meal here recently,...cooked to absolute perfection!!! We find The Ship Inn is a great place to feed the family as it's so reasonably priced, and portion sizes are equally generous to match! Likely the largest pub in Looe, for us it ticks many boxes, it's family friendly, including fur babies too as staff ensure that there are plenty of fresh water bowls made available as well as a treat here and there much to our dogs delight! We do particularly enjoy live music hosted on Friday nights from 9pm. We have enjoyed a host of genres, which is a hit with both locals and tourists alike! Finally and by no means least, in the main we have found this establishment to deliver excellent customer service,..there are some great characters behind that bar and behind the scenes.
Friendly pub with good quality tasty food ..good portion size too.would definitely return when in looe.
Went for lunch on a coolish day to deliberately check on the value for money. Being food critics, had a look in and it was quite busy which is a good sign so found a table, selected, ordered, paid and waited. The service was OK - 10 - 15 mins so you would expect things to be cooked fresh and to order. WRONG! One of us had fish and chips - £12.95 which we was looking forward to - sadly very disappointed. The fish was a perfectly shaped triangle, was a frozen fillet, batter overcooked, frozen chips and the whole lot quite sickly - the fish had a definite watery taste as it had been cooked too quickly from frozen so clearly NOT fresh in a fishing port. Mmm. We also had a plate of nacho's with chilli and garlic bread. Again, this was stodgy and microwaved although the garlic bread was hot. It wasnt finished. One of the party only had a sponge pudding - overcooked and definitely piping hot as it has been microwaved. Drinks being a St Austell brewery tied house were as expected very expensive so just had soft drinks driving which were also expensive - even for a soda water. Our bill was over £40. Advice if you go there is ask what is microwaved and choose something else that is fresh. The place itself is very dark, in need of a makeover which could have been done before the season kicks in but clearly hasn't. Good luck if you go there as we certainly wont be back.
Lovely atmosphere. Lovely food always eat here at least once a day. Well priced for families. Well recommended.
Great food, lovely people. Always a pleasure to visit The Ship and all who sail in her. Definite 5 stars.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Staff are really friendly and helpful.
Great pub, reminds me of home in my local, great banter and service from all the barmen very friendly, good pub food, all for under a tenna, highly recommend if visiting Looe
Great beer served at the right temperature. Food looks like good pub grub and large portions! A pub worth visiting when either on holiday or a local. My large disabled scooter also fits through the doors with the friendly staff rushing to the door to open it for me. What better service could I ask for, and in removing chairs so I pull right along side a table, also bring the ale to me. Perfect!
Great food and very friendly staff, covid-19 restrictions that are in place are very good, we felt comfortable and safe and it was a refreshing change to be in a place that made us all feel welcome, the john smiths is bang on
