We visited the Sherlock Holmes Museum at 221B Baker Street and really enjoyed its charming Victorian atmosphere. The rooms are beautifully furnished with authentic period pieces, and visitors are asked not to touch the exhibits to help preserve them.nnHolmes' sitting room, where he famously received his clients, is the highlight of the museum. We also enjoyed seeing Mrs. Hudson's room, along with Dr. Watson's bedroom and study, each thoughtfully recreated to bring the stories to life.nnThe museum takes about 45 minutes to an hour to explore at a comfortable pace. There's also a well-stocked gift shop at the entrance offering a wide range of Sherlock Holmes-themed books, souvenirs, and collectibles. A great stop for fans of the famous detective and anyone who enjoys stepping back into Victorian London.
Sherlock Holmes Museum was simply wow. To stand at 221B Baker Street is truly a dream come true for any fan of the great detective. From the moment you enter, you are welcomed into a brilliant merchandise store that immediately sets the tone for the visit. I ended up buying quite a few products myself, including a miniature Sherlock Holmes violin, which was a lovely souvenir from the experience.nnThe visit continues with a charming introduction by Victorian police officers in full costume, which adds to the atmosphere and makes you feel as though you have stepped back into the world of Sherlock Holmes. The first floor is arranged as a guided tour, where you get to see the famous living room followed by Sherlock’s bedroom. Every room has been carefully put together to reflect the world of the stories, and it is easy to lose yourself in the details.nnUpstairs, you can see Dr. Watson’s room, Mrs Hudson’s room, and even the room connected to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, which gives the museum a broader sense of history. One of the highlights is seeing the busts of the many famous actors who have portrayed Sherlock Holmes over the years, which is a nice touch for fans of both the literary and screen versions of the character.nnThe museum may be small, but it is absolutely worth every penny. There is so much to read, see, and learn that it feels far richer than its size suggests. It is one of those places that leaves a lasting impression because it brings fiction to life so vividly. Definitely worth a visit.
Fantastic little museum and gift shop!nnThe museum itself is small, spread over 4 floors and multiple rooms, but it's completely full of amazing items! Each room is floor to ceiling with Sherlock Holmes related items, artefacts and paraphernalia, there is something for every Sherlock fan.nnThe guides and cast are dressed the part, and play their part well. Very knowledgeable and welcoming, they're a credit to the Museum.nnWell worth a visit for any Sherlock fan!
Love it! Step into the world of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and immerse yourself in an era of mystery, deduction and wit. The museum does a superb job of bringing both the period and the Sherlock Holmes stories to life, with fascinating exhibits and plenty of attention to detail.nnA thoroughly worthwhile visit for fans of the books and anyone interested in Victorian London. I would recommend booking tickets in advance, as it can be very busy.
As a longtime Sherlock Holmes fan, visiting the Sherlock Holmes Museum at 221B Baker Street was an absolute dream come true. From the moment I stepped inside, it felt like stepping into the pages of Conan Doyle’s stories. The museum is beautifully maintained, with rooms recreated to reflect the Victorian era, from Holmes’ study with his iconic violin and chemistry equipment to Dr. Watson’s cozy quarters.nEvery detail is thoughtfully curated; the furniture, the old books, even the tiny artifacts and personal items make you feel like Holmes could walk in at any moment. The Musuem guides give a thorough description of each valuable item of each room. The museum also has interesting exhibits on the history of the detective stories, and the gift shop is full of unique memorabilia for fans.nStanding outside the famous address and imagining Holmes and Watson solving mysteries felt surreal. This museum is perfect for fans of all ages, offering a mix of history, literature, and immersive storytelling. Ending my one-day London trip here was the perfect way to connect with a character who has inspired generations. Highly recommend for anyone who loves Sherlock Holmes!
