I recently discovered the V&A Young Museum, and it was an incredible experience! I didn't know about this hidden gem before, but I'm so glad I found it. The museum is amazing and offers so much for everyone, especially families with kids. The exhibits are engaging, interactive, and beautifully curated, making it a fun and educational outing for children and adults alike. I highly recommend a visit – it's a perfect place to spend quality time and explore creativity!
We took our toddler who loved the sensory room for under two’s. The Japan exhibition was fun and the new layout is brilliant with loads of interactive activities for old and young. There is a cafe which is not cheap and sadly selling sandwiches that have been left to go stale but the cakes were better.
Visited here in the summer holidays and it was a tad busy. Lots to do for children under 10. There are quite a few play areas and creative spaces which really enlighten little minds with thoughtful activities such as building, problem solving and enlightening moments such as portrait drawing. Children can walk around freely all whilst learning more about the toys that came before them.nnExpect to see old computer games, traditional British toys and international toys and more recent toys from the 90’s and 2000’s.nnThe space is pushchair and wheelchair friendly due to ramps and lifts for all floors.nnMy only feedback would be that it would be great to see designated pushchair bays with locks at the front of the museum to keep pushchairs from entering play spaces due to limited space at busy times as I was expected to leave mine whilst my children played within designated play spaces. Expensive gifts shops inside which I guess is to be expected for free entry and better to bring a packed lunch which can be eaten without issue within the museum building.
I used to take my children to this museum years ago. It used to be “The museum of childhood” now is called Young V&A.nToday I took my grand daughter, she enjoyed it very much. But I liked the way it used to be. The main attraction were the toys, now the main attraction are the exhibitions and experiences. Toys are displayed around the exhibition rooms.nChildren enjoy it but they don’t get to see the changes in toys in different times.
A wonderful place to visit especially with children. It's very nostalgic seeing some of the toys, the displays are brilliant and there is interactive play too. This place has a small area of soft play for little children. There is also a cafe.nnIt is worth visiting this place.
