The design museum exhibitions, both free and paid are one of the most interesting to see. They do a great job of putting spaces together and creating interesting exhibitions. I’ve been to a few paid exhibitions now including Moving to Mars, Stanley Kubrick and The World of Tim Burton. They were all super different but incredibly put togethernnOther than exhibitions the design museum itself has beautiful architecture but it’a permanent collection is not worth visiting without pairing it to an exhibition. It’s rather small and clearly not the main focus. The shop as well for being a design museum has a long way to go.
We went here for the Barbie exhibition and we loved it. Loads to read and look at and all set out in a really fun and engaging way that has lots packed into an area but also feels spacious enough to be able to see things. We went in the middle of the day which was probably good as I know someone who went on the weekend and it was packed. But overall a great afternoon was had
Fabulous museum, warm, friendly welcome when I arrived.nWent to see the Barbie exhibition. This was absolutely fabulous. Well curated, gave a history of the development of the doll. Surprisingly interesting and very engaging. Lots of Barbies on show as well as many of her costumes, accessories and vehicles. The display of Barbies displayed chronologically was particularly interesting.
Went along for the Tim Burton exhibition which is fantastic but also had a wander around the rest of it. It's a very well laid museum with lots of space and places to sit. The building is, as you would imagine, beautiful inside with every element carefully designed to allow you to spend time taking in the exhibits and surroundings.nnNot a huge amount to see but you could quite easily spend a few hours just looking around and relaxing.
Inspiring museum, the atmosphere is so minimal and clean, the modern architecture makes you feel what you’re about to experience, welcoming vibes that you would love to again.nnFull of interesting artifacts and exhibits, whether you're a designer or just a visitor, believe me you would enjoy the journey.nnVariety of exhibits about textile, furniture, graphic, fashion and design, Im sure you will find your interest.nnFree admission, It’s not that big, you would need around 30 to 45 minutes to see, toilets located on site.nnIf you were near give it a visit.
