The Savoy was stunning and it was a really really nice time. The scones were incredible and the tea was delightful. I found sometimes they tried too hard to be fancy. The things I liked I REALLY liked, and the things I didn't like I didn't really like. The chicken sandwhich was divine but for some reason I didn't love the cucumber sandwich, even though I usually do. They also had some weird earthy tarts that were kind of pungent. Maybe my palate just isn’t rich enough for rich food! But I had a lovely time
We stayed for three nights and had an absolutely wonderful experience.nnWe were in the Maria Callas suite and it was absolutely beautiful, with amazing views of the river.nnThe breakfast in the birdcage restaurant was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff.nnIt was actually lovely to interact with many of the staff who let their own personalities and humour show through.nnI'd highly recommend this hotel for a special occasion or to spoil yourself on your next trip to London.nnI adored every single detail.
Booked 2 rooms and stayed one night for my in-law's 70th birthday. The hotel was informed a month in advance, but they didn’t prepare anything special besides a chocolate bar with a 'happy birthday' message, which was placed in the wrong room. During check-in, we had to prompt the staff about the benefits of being a Platinum member of Accord. When we got to our 'upgraded room,' there were no amenities besides a voucher for 2 drinks vouchers in an establishment of this category are not proper. There was no recognition for our loyalty level, no welcome back, or appreciation. We had dinner at the Savoy Grill, which was excellent in terms of food and service. When we checked out, the staff didn’t ask about our stay. An email has been sent to guest services; we were told that whenever we come back, they will provide a room with a better view. However, it's too late because we won’t return. I do not recommend this place for a special celebration, apart from the restaurant. Don’t be fooled by the name. Just before checking into this hotel, we spent 3 nights in another 5-star hotel in London, and they were at the top of their game
Staff were very helpful as you'd expect from the Savoy. It was very busy but we were offered a table which wasn't really a table. The wine was nice. Not somewhere I'd go regularly, but nice to go to every so often.
Met friends who were staying there. American bar is as good as ever, also found the Beaufort bar which is a beautiful cocktail bar. Both have excellent choices of cocktails and very attentive and knowledgeable waiters.
