First of all, I am no native English speaker, so please excuse any mistakes I make. I stayed at the hotel during the week for four nights room number 12. Only a fews day earlier, as you may read in another review, the hotel had obvious problems with the water pressure. While I found a note in the room upon arrival, apologizing for any inconvenience, that may be caused by this problem, I did not experience any problem at all, using bath and shower normally. So, obviously, this problem has been solved. I had twice a problem with the keycard not working, which was every time sorted out in minutes. I also used to eat every evening in the accompanying restaurant, trying out different dishes each time, in addition to having breakfast each morning. Absolutely no complaints here, be it the price or the quality of the food Hunter´s Schnitzel, one burger, Steak and Ale Pie, these I remember. I found the staff very attentive strawberry-lime cider ;-, in contrary to some other reviews. While the hotel rooms can possibly be quiet noisy due to the roundabout in front, my room that´s why I mentioned the number was situated to the back and quiet enough, so I could easily keep the window open all night. I used the hotel for my holiday explorations of Portsmouth and the area around, and for that, I found it near perfect. Would I stay there again? Can I recommend it from my experience? YES, definitively!
One star given is only for the location. I wish I could rate them zero stars. Unhygienic rooms and most unwelcoming old lady ruining your mornings. No receptionist. The ambience is spooky. There was no water in the rooms. Every time we had to run down and kept reminding them that there is no water in the taps. Horrible experience. A nightmare ......will never recommend this.
Great service , the room is very rustic and the actual afternoon tea we had was great , delicious and so fresh , would definitely come back . Thank you team and the lady welcoming guest !!Rooms: 4/5
Well, I have to admit I was very impressed. I brought on Groupon a cream tea for 4 very last minute. When we arrived, an amazing open fire was burning absolutely lovely. We were greeted by a lovely lady who took us to our table. The cream tea and sandwiches were really lovely. I would highly recommend. Looking at the Sunday Roast next.
We had a two night stay here with a well known package offering. We arrived early and just as well as the car park can get very busy and is not large. We had room 2 1st floor there are further floors above, no lift that I saw. The building is old 17th century, so not surprising. Our room was clean and tidy, but not large, it was to the front of the building, so there was a lot of traffic noise, only quite between 11 and 6 in the morning. As part of our package was evening meal, which while nice was nothing special, which was a surprise given the comments on food. Breakfast is served fresh to order, again nice but had better. We ate in the hotel the 2nd night as well, while the menus may be almost the same, there are some differences, again not great, frozen fish n chips not fresh it seemed. The hotel is about 5 to 10 minutes walk from Fareham Town centre, and if you want there is a bus stop around the corner where you can catch a bus to Portsmouth, £4 return Feb 24. Would I stay there again yes, will I stay there again, I will see what else was available.
We stayed on the 12th March. Staff very pleasant, Food very good, we had evening meal and breakfast. The room was very tired and needed decorating, hair dryer did not work and there was no plug in the basin. Lovely hot water. The mattress was very poor. Rooms: Very tired need updating Food & drinks: Very good food Noteworthy details: Road very noisy.
The hotel had seen better days. Once in the carpark it was difficult to get out till morning. Friendly staff. Bar open to midnight. Room was clean and tidy. Bathroom very smalllRooms: 5/5
Staff and resident very helpful, food great and good value. Dog friendly. Staff couldn't do enough for us for our stay. Special thanks to Rylee and Lazz for friendly and helpful service, Tilly for entertaining the dog, and cleaning up after an accident, the ladies who was on breakfast duty Saturday and makes a great coffee, even housekeeper helped out, great service all round, sorry if names are spelt wrong or I missed anyone. Will return.
Lovely place, food is really good, this time we went for an afternoon tea, the sandwich, scones and cakes were delicious - would definitely recommendRooms: 4/5
Beautiful Hotel. As a family of 5, it's hard to find a place that holds us all but our room here was perfect. 3 singles 1 double and still plenty of room to swing a cat. breakfast was lovely and the staff were so nice. Noteworthy details: very old creaky building. not advised if you are a light sleeper.
