Not bad but slow on service but pub atmosphere when busy it’s loud inside. Food was bit burnt in places.
Lovely Carvery, we had the 3 course for £8.99. Staff were lovely, food was good. Signage was lacking though as there were no menus on the tables or anything to say how much the carvery was yet alone that there was a 3 course available! The decor was dated but comfortable enough and the staff seemed to focus more on the drinkers too rowdy for me than the people in the restaurant. That being said it was an enjoyable carvery for the money.
Cheap carvery, decent value for money. Beef was cremated, turkey dry, but pork and gammon were good. Veg selection okay. Puddings were of the ‘thaw and heat’ variety. None of the ales were available so just lagers, and the coffee machine was out of order. The place was okay but had a bit of a ‘sticky’ feel to it and it could do with a deep clean - the cob webs in the toilets had clearly been there for a long time. Outside seating area is big and looked pleasant.
We found this pub by chance when we went to Solihull, We had an excellent Lunch which was amazing value as carvery was under £4. The veg was all lovely and fresh, the meat was nice and the gravy was fantastic. The fish was fresh and in a lovely batter and the kids meal was nice plus a good size. The pub staff were really jolly and friendly with top service, young girl on counter very helpful and knowledgeable of meals and drinks. We can highly recommend this great little pub and will go there again if in the area. Plus good range of beer, big screen tv and pool table.
Lasting impressions: Skin-tight Iron Man-suited barman, nice pub, meh all-day breakfast My experience: Let me first of all say, I think we got unlucky. I'd heard nice things about the food in this pub but when we went, it appeared to be Superhero Saturday, complete with bouncy castle in the beer garden and barman in an Iron Man morph suit. Not a problem at all... However, we were informed that there was no food available other than the all-day breakfast. We like a good all-day breakfast, so both ordered but were rather disappointed by it. It was small, someone told us toast was coming but it never came and the beans tasted sharp. However, I think I would try it another time when they're doing the full menu but the all-day breakfast we were served was disappointing. The pub had a nice atmosphere though and there was plenty of parking. The verdict: We would possibly go back to try the full menu out of curiosity but we weren't impressed by our recent experience.
No food at the carvery station. Only had 2 large fish left. 2 of us had to have small fish and chips. Was only told about this after we paid. Fish was mostly over cooked batter. Not much actual fish in it and one person said it was greasy. Vent leaking water over table and floor. Chips were OK and prices not too expensive though
Been loads in the past had lovely meals. Think it's changed hands Firstly the noise from the bar was horrific like being at a bloody football match the man serving the food was very pissed off he had to uncover the veg etc just for me n hubby my turkey well what there was of it was mostly fat the potatoes were cold And the pudding well all I can say is I didn't even try it. I know now why it was so easy to get a table as hardly anyone in there. Won't be going again. On a plus waiting staff were plesant hence the 2 stars otherwise this would have been a -2
A really welcoming friendly pub. Food is excellent in both quality and value. Saturday evenings bring live entertainment in the former of tribute acts which are some of the best performers I've seen. I'm so glad we found this hidden gem
Dreadful meal today. Carvery looked a mess. The meats looked like they had jumped straight out the abattoir. Undercooked and presentation poor. Coke was watered down. Was much better before when it was cheaper and staff looked happier.
Very good burger, Best I've had! Chips were red hot, lovely and staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Very pleasantly surprised! Will definitely be making this my local!
