AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL!! My partner and I ate at The Townhouse last night and were horrified at what happened. We'd bought a voucher via travelzoo as it seemed like very good value. Having consumed our starter and main we were handed a dessert menu at which point we reminded the waiter the voucher only covered two courses. At this point we were told that the voucher covers a main and a dessert only. Hands up...our mistake, we'd left the house in a rush and didn't read the voucher properly...a genuine mistake. This is where the situation took a pretty sharp nose dive. We suggested as we'd paid for two courses and eaten two courses then we could call it quits or even pay for the difference. The waiter was adamant we had to have a dessert at which point we asked to see the manager. The General Manager at the Townhouse, Mr Konrad Barczac was UNBELIEVABLY RUDE to us!! From the outset his tone was belligerent and his attitude belittling. When we explained we'd had two courses and were full he replied; 'this is a restaurant, you've got to come here hungry'. When I explained we liked the food but would never come back he reluctantly offered a free dessert each on our next trip but at that point we felt like we just wanted to leave. Out of principle we left without a dessert and didn't leave a tip. On the way out we caught Mr Barczak bitching about us to another member of staff. What a thoroughly unprofessional and rude thing to do. The whole experience left us feeling numb and in a state of utter disbelief. Never again will we eat at The Townhouse and we recommend anyone thinking of eating there to go somewhere else. Oh and we were charged an 8% gratuity on the bill too I recommend this goes towards improving customer service.
