Everything was really good, from the dog friendlyness of the pub to the overall quality of the food and cocktails. However, Portion sized on the main not the fish and chips, but the pasta could have better. Felt a little like a start or a taster : Apart from that really good experience.
From the delicious food to the amazingly friendly staff. The ale and beers was a big thumbs up from my husband. Gorgeous little pub but lots of seating areas including outside. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
This use to call this a "Good all round pub."... It not a "pub" any more. More of a fancy restaurant! Food was really nice and service was very good. They were accommodating for kids and were quick to get the kids food. We spent £60 for 2+1 kid and a bottle of wine. Make sure you book a table before going.
At 7pm most of the meals on the menu were not available. Had the avocado and mango salad, for which the avocado was unavailable. Salad was the oiliest, most salty salad, with absolutely no taste, chicken, which I ordered asa an extra, was a piece of hard tasteless offering. The worst eating experience of my life. Staff were pleasant but not a nice experience.
Came here for Father's Day, hoping for a relatively good pub meal, but boy were we wrong. The service started out alright, but it quickly went downhill, even though they weren't at all busy. They originally brought out one 3 sets of cutlery instead of 4, which we didn't think much of it at the time, however no one came back for over an hour, not even with our food. One of us ordered a starter, however they ended up bringing it with the main meal. Not only this, one of us swapped out a salad for mushy peas, but they ended up swapping the chips out, so had to go up and ask for the chips. The 3 of us who ordered a Sunday dinner were severely disappointed and 2 of us couldn't take more than a few bites before leaving it. Calling what we got chicken is laughable, as it was all bone with next to no meat on it. Furthermore the roasties were literally rock hard, and the single one that wasn't was full of grease. The food was also a little on the cold side. One of us ordered a chicken snitzle this was the one where they mixed up the salad/chips. The chips that did come were burnt and not tasty at all. The mushy peas were cold. The only thing that was kinda edible was thr chicken itself, and even that was a touch on the cold and burnt side. Lastly where the food is concerned, there were no salt/pepper on the table, when other tables had them. The server didn't give us a chance to ask for any condiments before shooting back off to wherever she was staying hold up. We had to go to the bar to ask for this stuff. Bare in mind that due to the day they were offering table service, which is why we waited to be served. There wasn't any issue with the first round of drinks except they put ice in the lemonade when we asked for no ice. We didn't get a chance to ask for more drinks until our food arrived which took over an hour to arrive from ordering, even though we had all finished long before the food arrived. The second round however was an issue. Not only did they bring lemonade with ice again, but they only brought over lager for the shandy one of us ordered. Their excuse was they thought the lemonade was for the shandy, despite the fact it was the exact same order as the first round. Definitely don't come here if you want even an alright time. All that can be said is the manager took off most of the food and 1 round of drinks from the bill.
After hearing good things about the Sunday roast I was really disappointed with our experience. After sitting at our table we waited 15 mins for someone to come over and take our drinks order, this didn't happen so we went to the bar ourselves. We then waited another 30 mins for someone to come over and take our food order again we had to go over to the bar, when they finally started to take our order they informed us that they had run out of all roasts but they had everything else on the menu apart from steak. After a few mins of looking at the menu again we decided to order, everything we asked for they had also now run out of. At this point with 3 hungry kids to feed we decided to leave and try somewhere else, the waiter who showed pretty much no interest the whole time apologised and said he would get the manager over to explain. We saw him walk over to the manger, who then shrugged her shoulders, walked off and never came over to talk to us. I understand sometimes the service won't always be great or they will run out of food but this was 4:30pm on a Sunday and the place was half full. An explanation/apology from the manager would of gone a long way but the fact they couldn't be bothered says it all. We won't be going back.
Lovely food and great atmosphere. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The bar snacks are great value for money. All the food I've tried there it's been very tasty and good quality. Highly recommended.
Went in for lunch for the first time today, after one visit it is safe to say I have found my new favourite lunch spot. We had a friendly welcome from the man working and his service was excellent. The food was delicious, we had the chicken sandwich and fish sandwich and shared the halloumi fries, it was all great and the ingredients all tasted very good quality. The decor inside is beautiful.
Always great food, service and atmosphere in The Plough on the Moor. We've been in quite a few times lately and each time Tamsin has gone over and above to help us out - stellar customer service and very grateful for it!Food: 5/5
