I've been to The Plough a few times and wanted to go again with some friends who were visiting for the day. I attempted to book a table by calling but the automated system failed to work. Checking on their website suggested that all tables were booked. We risked it and visited anyway. The at table service tables were apparently all booked but it was possible to eat in the bar section without a booking. There were plenty of bar tables available so that wasn't a problem, and the food we ordered arrived very quickly. We really enjoyed the food: very tasty and well presented. Why only 4 stars? It's just a shame with all the garden space and available tables they have it's not possible to order food for delivery out to the garden. I'm not quite sure why: I'm sure they're missing an opportunity there. I'll definitely go back there again, but will try to book super early... although that's not always possible.
We have managed to moor our narrow board right outside - it was a rainy day and Tuesday. Still was busy inside but staff was really good and friendly and we can sit at the bar that has a few really good tables. Menu is good, food was good and the wine list a really good too.
One of the best steak sandwiches I’ve had ! Soft tender bread that doesn’t cut the mouth and perfectly cook steak with that heavenly sauce, ask for it! Wish I can get the recipe! Fish sandwich is really good too. Wish to come back for a full lunch/dinner as we got the lunch meal. Lovely by the river ambiance.
Lovely pub right by the river & an old favourite. A drink with a great view. Food was real good too. The cod was huge. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. Recommended venue.
Food was amazing will definitely go back again, serive was good.. only wish they had a more convenient way to look up gluten free menu rather than a app or via a website.
I treated myself to lunch, because I'm worth it! I had a posh ciabatta fish finger sandwich with fries & onion rings and it was so hot I nearly burnt myself! The chips & onion rings were so crispy & delicious There was just too much & it beat me! I'll be back again in the spring and summer as I bet it's really pretty by the river then.
Was completely ignored the whole time with no staff coming over to us so couldn’t tell them that the salad I had was vile. Other food was nice. Before leaving we went up to the manager to tell her that no one had been over to us and we couldn’t make eye contact with anyone to come over to us either. We said the salad was a joke and she waved us off to get it refunded. It wasn’t sincere, she just wanted us to go away. A shame because the rest of the food was nice and the pub was nice.
Lovely place for dinner. Friendly staff, excellent selection of drinks. The menu has an extensive choice so something to please everyone. Food was amazing, freshly cooked and well presented.Food: 5/5
Fantastic location near the river. You can sit outside and watch the rowers while eating. Venue needs a little TLC. Food was a good portion, I found the flavour of the gravy with my pie very strange. The narrow road to the pub can get quite busy.
Suitably priced, decent food. We had fishcakes, fries, pizza and linguine. The service wasn't ideal as we had to prompt the staff several times to be served at various points of our meal.
