I booked a two night stay at The Old House at short notice for a business trip and found it to be a enjoyable experience. The room was clean and full of original character with the most beautiful appealing ensuite with shower cubicle and deep roll-top bath. The proprietors were exceptionally sociable and helpful and delivered a great friendly service. Breakfast was included with the stay each morning and the food was great and presented well when served. On the last morning of my stay I had to skip breakfast but the owners didn't let me leave empty handed and seen me on my way with a bacon butty and a fresh orange juice, which I didn't expect but was appreciated. All in all I can say that I had a great experience while I was there and I will definitely be staying again at some point in the future. Highly recommended and such a great service provided by the owners of The Old House. Thank you all for a great experience with you. A+++ Rooms: The room was delightful and full of character and charm with a ensuite with shower cubicle and separate deep roll-top bath. Nearby activities: Dunster Castle just up the street. Minehead town and beach within a five minute drive as well as other beaches close by. Food & drinks: Food and drink was very enjoyable and well presented with the plus side of the premises being lovely and clean.
Very, very friendly and social owners. They helped us so much and introduced us to the lovely owners of the Stag pub, helped find out that the shop no.29 was open on my birthday. Just made my dayRooms: 5/5
Booked 3 rooms for 2 nights. Absolutely perfect for our needs. Nicely decorated, spacious rooms. Breakfast was fantastic and staff lovely and helpful. Also very good at catering for my coeliac daughter - lots of gluten free options. Would definitely return if ever in dunster.Rooms: 5/5
My husband, daughter and I stayed here for two nights and couldn't have been happier. The 16thC Listed building has its quirks which made for some interesting maneuvering for the tallest of us but the rooms were spotless, abundantly supplied and overlook the High Street and opposite Reeves see separate review. Amazing sleeps, comfortable beds and spacious enough despite being on the uppermost floor. Breakfast was the best, The Dunster Full English was perfectly proportioned and perfectly cooked, setting us up for each day. My daughter had a stack of pancakes with chocolate sauce as opposed to syrup and couldn't stop smiling the entire time. A choice of cereals, toast, crumpets, juices, granolas and an array of coffees and teas mean that your day really gets off to the best start. Both Tessa and George are wonderful hosts going above and beyond to accommodate their guests and I would absolutely stay there again. Our thanks to them and the rest of the staff who work so hard. P.s. spot the Robin who joined us for breakfast
Stopped for coffee and food today and were really impressed. The Panini's were amazing! I had the Stilton and Bacon and my Fiancée had the brie jam and Chilli jam. They were so so good! Service was great too. The guys were really welcoming. 100% recommend this place. It was lovely.
George and Tessa make this special place the perfect place to stay if you are looking for wonderfully friendly, but unobtrusive, go the extra mile hosts. Our room was spotlessly clean, spacious, light and airy with some lovely quirky touches. Breakfast and the food and beverages in the tea shop were absolutely delicious and the tea garden an absolute joy. Cannot recommend highly enough.
I visited the tea shop- I was very impressed! All takeaway containers including cup lids were biodegradable- and other items had been recycled. Huge respect! The food was lovely, the staff were very kind and helpful. The whole atmosphere was delightful! I completely adore this tea shop.Service: 5/5
We ate at Tessa's Tea Shop last week, we ordered the homemade salad and a gluten free cheese and onion pasty. My partner had a coronation chicken toastie with homemade salad. The lunch was absolutely delicious. The salad tasted superb, I wanted to eat it all, all over again. The salad was made with fruit and vegetables. I would highly recommend this place for a beautiful spot of lunch. Also the view out onto the beautiful high Street was excellent. Furthermore the service was incredible. We will definitely be back.
So glad we crossed the road. We were just heading back down the road in search of lunch when I decided I would just have a quick look at the menu. I don't do gluten and I don't do dairy, this place was magnificent. The coconut and chickpea pie was incredible. The exmoor cheese scones that were had by other members of the party were also delicious. Definitely not badly priced and with lots of atmosphere. Excellent.
We went here for a meal and had the best lunch of our week-long stay in Exmoor. Having looked for somewhere affordable to eat, this was the most reasonably priced just but worth every penny. We both had brie sandwiches - one with cranberry and one with onion chutney - and we were really pleased with the quality and amount of food. Thick slices of fresh-baked bread, thick slices of creamy brie and a substantial and varied side-salad see photo of partially eaten sarnie.... Delicious! Service was good and the decor of the cafe is charming. Highly recommended.
