This was our second visit the The Castle Hotel . Once again we were very ably looked after by John and Lisa . Our room suited our needs exactly , even a bit of a sea view !!! . If you are staying on a Sunday or a Monday , you really should book to dine there on the evening . Wholesome Sunday dinner style meals , excellent value for money . Walk Dunster if you want. Pay twice as much in one of those very posh places if you want . But better The Castle Hotel meals you will not . Once again , my wife and I were treated like old friends , but still with the professionalism, courtesy, and respect I'd expect as a paying customer. A wonderful venue for a short break . Thank you John and Lisa for your hard work and effort . Top job
Wonderful location for Dunster Castle. Sadly in our opinion not a hotel but more of a bed and breakfast as they only cook evening meals on two evenings a week. The owners do a good job but run the business almost entirely on their own apart from a bedroom cleaner and a kitchen assistant. The entrance to the rear car park is very awkward to negotiate if you have a larger car and parking outside is almost not on, particularly in busy periods. If you are used to hotel life, ordering drinks and food at anytime throughout the day or evening you may be disappointed, also there is no lift to the upper floor, this venue is not disabled friendly, there is also a very steep slope to and from the rear car park. In our opinion the star rating of this business is well out of date and gives the wrong impression.
Lovely Hotel very clean and well appointed. Owners looked after us and or dog so well. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing too much trouble. Breakfasts were fab we had the traditional full English. I also tried homemade yoghurt with fresh fruit which was the best. Being right in centre Dunster easy access to all amenities and lovely walks in Dunster castle.
Nice hotel with pleasantly decorated/furnished rooms. Own car park with plenty of room accessed by narrow archway. All the facilities you would expect however price seems a little high due to the fact there is No staff although owners are very pleasant and helpful enough. Nice breakfastsRooms: 4/5
We stayed here for 5 nights after traveling down from Manchester for the Golden Retriever Experience. We really fell in love with the beautiful village of Dunster and our experience was made all the more perfect by Lisa and John. What a wonderful couple who made us feel welcome from the minute we checked in. You make your breakfast choices the night before and every morning it was made to order, fresh and lovely, always with a big smile from Lisa. We enjoyed the Sunday roast so much that we booked for Monday night too! Thank you so much to you both for such a memorable stay. We will definitely be back :
Not got a room, but popped in to have a Roast dinner. Was extremely impressed with the meal, service and the interior. Meal cost very reasonable. The staff/owners are very friendly, professional & efficient. Roast dinner was amazing and highly recommend their restaurant & bar. We will definitely be popping back, to try their Full English breakfast as non-resident are welcome.
We had an amazing time the owners are lovely and made you feel so welcome nothing was too much for them we will definitely be going back again Rooms: So comfortable and decorated to a very high standard Food & drinks: The breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and locally sourced ingredients
We stayed for one night and the experience has left us wanting to return at some point in the near future. The hosts were very polite and friendly, the hotel is beautiful and our room was exceptional. Breakfast was amazing too and we left feeling very content. Thank you.
What a beautiful location to start with, add to that lovely welcoming staff and a fantastic breakfast making for a really good stay for us. Lovely clean room and massive comfy bed too!Rooms: 5/5
Lovely welcoming hosts. Room was well equipped and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a great selection. Perfect location in Dunster and on site parking too which seems like a rarity. 2 min walk to the Castle National Trust which is fascinating. No bar or restaurant currently but they welcome you to bring your own food and drinks. A pretty scenic 30 ish min walk from Minehead if you dont want to drive for food Monday eve the restaurants in Dunster seem to be closed.
