Stockport's sociable cinema. 10 screens of super-detailed digital projection and are Dolby Digital 7.1 capable (the sound is really good). They also feature our specially-made reclining seats. And yes, you can take a drink from the bar into the screen!

Story

We think cinema is better together. Catching up with friends, a first date or a special night out, we're all for stories and plots that get you talking. So we've done our best to help you get comfy and stay a while.

Our licensed café-bar serves local beers and spirits, a decent choice of wines and fresh coffee all day. We've got delicious organic hotdogs alongside the usual cinema goodies (it's not really cinema without popcorn, after all).

We have 10 screens, all of them have super-detailed digital projection and are Dolby Digital 7.1 capable (the sound is really good). They also feature our specially-made reclining seats. And yes, you can take a drink from the bar in too.

We try hard to make sure we’ve got something for everyone in the community, with a range of movies, arts and events as well as accessible and kids screenings.

Cinema is situated in a good enough part of Stockport with everything around it being accessible on foot.nWe normally park at peel centre and walk from there, reason being mainly for shopping before and/or after watching a film.nPlace itself is still just about looking fresh enough.nTicket prices are slowly but surely getting in a overpriced territory, but that is everywhere the same regardless the cinema.nScreens are good, none of them too small or too far away when sitting in seats further back like rows J, K or L.nSound is good too, We've never had an issue that we couldn't hear something or that it was actually too loud.nSeats are comfy and they recline with just pushing them forward with your body, no buttons.nDespite being used by many careless people, the toilets are reasonably clean.nSo far since it opened we've never had an issue with member of staff, always polite and friendly, also patient.nNow, there are three things that could improve...n1. It can be too cold, especially in autumn & winter months, have to wear a coat on 7/10 occasions and a hat here and there.n2. Popcorn can be stale on occasions, dry and not salted even though they state it is fresh.n3. Some seats need refurbishment done asap and others cleaned. You can see many yellow seats having like a round stain on the seat, quite unpleasant to think that's the seat I'll have to sit on. Once a week after all is done, there should be a bit of hot water & soap over it and dries by morning.
Nice small theatre, seating is cozy, spacious and partially reclining enough legroom. Overall is comfortable and relax which make you easily to sleep nGood selection of films in over 10 screens.nFour hours free parking if you are customer of The light cinema, bowling session etc. You should input your car plate in the kiosk locates next to the movie ticket selling counter.
Our daughter and friends visited this evening, they had a fabulous time. As we had to wait around to bring them home we sat in the bar area. We were served by Brandon. P, he was extremely friendly with great customer service. The bar was quiet but still had a good atmosphere for a Thursday night. Our daughter highly recommended the cinema for comfort, price and cleanliness.

I LOVE this cinema. Getting a Light cinema pass has been one of the best things in the last 6 months; I’ve seen so many films, old and new, and genuinely have discovered my love of film after coming here on a regular basis. The staff are great I affectionately call them the cinema fairies keeping the place clean and tidy. Over Easter there were even fresh daffodils put on the tables in the bar. Free parking, fantastic selection of films, cycle hub a stones throw away, and a mix of small and big cinema rooms. The only downside is there isn’t a film club for members, which i’d love them to introduce. Well done the Light, you have brought Light into my life
