Story

HOME is a place for curiosity seekers, for lovers of the dramatic, the digital and the deeply engaging, for radicals and reciprocators, in the heart of Manchester.

Our two theatres are a playful platform for new, commissioned work. Our five cinema screens light up with challenging, independent, provoking films. The gallery space is home to the very best in contemporary art. The food is delicious.

HOME is for everyone. We like to think of it as a place where you can engage with other arts lovers through our exciting and inspiring events. That goes for our Facebook page, too. Here, we’ll be sharing images, videos and other updates from our theatres, exhibitions, cinemas, events, bookshop, bar and restaurant.

Wow. This place is amazing. A theatre, bar and a restruant. There is a disabled entrance, and with lifts to all floors. The lifts are spacious and can easily fit a few people in them. The food was outstanding. The price is average - but you definitely get more than what you pay for. Portion sizes are just right, an the quality of food is brilliant. Highly recommended!

We were abruptly told we had to settle up because we'd bought drinks and olives. Our glasses were full. Empty tables all around us. No one had said we had to order food. Not the waiters fault, this is a front of house manager's policy. I've worked in retail and hospitality all my life and this policy is unacceptable. Rudeness to paying customers is never okay. I feel embarrassed as I was showing my friends how friendly a city Manchester is. I love HOME and come here often so I'm pretty disappointed.

Service is generally good and the ambience very nice, but the food is a mixed bag. Baked cod was flavoursome but the HOME fish and chips came with overcooked frozen chips. The fish and home made Tartar sauce were good, so it's a shame they fell down on something so crucial. Another time we had an overly sugary cottage pie (or similar) and stale dough balls. So there are elements that are good but lack of consistency and attention to rather important details that lets the food offering down.

HOME offers the alternative cinema and arts experience you might not know you want yet. Although the cinema screens are small, the intimate nature of the rooms lends itself well to certain film types. Just don't be surprised if the person behind you sounds like your grandma when your watching a film "ooh he's a baddy him". The bar is well staffed and you can take a drink into the screenings with prices at a very reasonable rate. HOME is not and never was a secret, but it still feels like one.

First time here last week and thought it was a lovely little theatre. Comfy seating and view from the back was great. Staff were all friendly and helpful and the vibe was nice and busy. Not sure what the other aspects are like but really enjoyed the theatre experience. Highly recommend a visit!
