Wonderful experience to see this classic cinema and theatre. The behind the scenes tour was very informative and excellently presented. Well worth the visit.
Great venue for stand up comedy, not so big that you lose the feeling of being part of the show. Good slope on the seating so the view from further back is still ok. Comfy seats, easy to get in and out, lots of parking nearby.
My wife and i went to this grand old plaza / theatre recently for BBC Radio Manchester extravaganza for children in need. It was good to see bags being checked before you go in . Inside, they have a relatively small bar and seating area with not much room because of how old it isnstaff were friendly & welcoming and pointed you in the direction to where your seats are. there was plenty of room for your legs as this can be a problem for some of these old theatres .Bit of a queue for the toilets, ladies and gents are downstairs. It is a lovely place and well worth a visit
Visited on 27/12/24. Beautiful venue, the preserved art deco history is awesome. Loved the old traditional organ playing at the start and in the interval too!nnThe Sleeping Beauty production was good. Actors were great, especially the star, Wendi. Sound was excellent. Audience participation was a bit lacklustre. Panto is supposed to be an interactive experience!nnThe only feedback I want to pass on is that given the restriction on bringing sweets and drinks in, the refreshments provision could have been better. We managed to get a tea, a coffee and two fizzy drinks, but it was a real palaver - the staff in the cafe didn’t seem to know what was going on, didn’t know how to make drinks, there was no card machine, no price list. I would have spent more but it was total chaos so only ordered the minimum which cost £7. When we go to the Palace Theatre we’d typically spend £40 in the cafe, so you’re missing out on a load of additional revenue by a lack of preparation.
I was treated to a tour of the Plaza as part of a birthday gift and I can honestly say that it's one of the best gifts I've ever received. I love art deco architecture and styling and in every department, the Plaza delivers! I can't begin to say how impressed we were at the condition and beauty of the place. It is exquisite and is a credit to all of those who have had a hand in restoring this gem of a building to its former glory in such an incredibly authentic manner. It's obvious that everyone connected with the Plaza loves the place! Our guide was smart, funny and knowledgeable and really added to the experience. We will definitely be returning soon.
