An amazing library! The staff are very friendly and helpful. "Tots time" on a Tuesday morning is very popular. Lots of nursery rhymes, singing, dancing and craft at the end of the session. A lovely place for the community to get together with various clubs going on there!
A good location, however this is a very noisy library. It is usually impossible to concentrate whilst using the computers, due to the noise levels in the library. Once a week, the library holds a coffee morning for members of the public, to sit and chat in the main library area. This event is incredibly disruptive to all the other library users, and would ideally be suited to being held elsewhere. However, the library staff are mostly pleasant and helpful, and the library holds a good selection of books.
Came to the library today to use computer to print off tickets for commonwealth games. Not being computer literate the staff were so kind and helpful showing me what to do and helping me out always with a friendly smile even when I kept logging myself out and need help with the download. It was lovely to see so many children there and parents taking books out and booking the kids onto activities. I used to use this library alot when I was training and even just to borrow books and have some quiet times. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you again ladies
Lovely little library. Used to take my little one to tots time on a Tuesday where the librarian reads a book to the class, sings nursery rhymes then they have craft time. All free! Not often you can get something for nothing these days. Wuch lovely welcoming environment too
First time visting this library. Found a parking spot no problem. Straight from the off really nice & friendly staff. Plugged in & set up my laptop, spent a few hours in the library, it was lovely & warm. I will definitely be returning, nice experience, top marks.
The library is now open as normal, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The staff are lovely always happy to help even when they are busy. There are a good selection of books and you can always request a book from another library if they do not have what you want. They have a toddlers story/craft time on Tuesday mornings, occasional adult craft mornings, a knitters group, coffee morning on a Thursday etc.
Lovely dedicated staff running a well stocked library with weekly toddler session and holiday kids activities. They do amazing work considering how little funding they get- yes it would be lovely to have longer opening hours but I think we're very fortunate to still have a local library at all. Keep up the good work Tower Hill!!
This is a great library that is wasted by a simple lack of care and thought. Firstly, I wanted a library card. I have been using this library since the 1980s. They wanted 2 forms of ID and one had to be a photo ID. I told them I had no photo ID and only had my phone bill as proof of address. They refused me! Is this a library card or a credit card for goodness sake?! Closing for an hour in the middle of the day is extremely annoying and unnecessary. There are several members of staff, surely for the sake of one hour they could just stagger their lunch break? Staff are REALLY noisy and many patrons are too. I'm talking 'outdoor voices' and full belly-laughs instead of staying quiet like they're supposed to. There is one table to sit at in the whole library, with four chairs. It is entirely wasted because they slap this big box of magazines in the middle which people leave lying all over the place - then if you're trying to actually get some work done, people are noisily rummaging through the box. It should be placed on the side, not in the centre of the only desk in the building. Book selection is really dated. It's legitimately hard to find anything new in there these days. The Mills and Boon/tacky 90s romance novel section is literally larger than some of the other sections like horror or sci-fi. With an overhaul, this library could be great. But as it stands, it hasn't changed since the 1980s and that isn't a good thing. It needs to move with the times a bit more.
Quiet, enjoyable as usual. We'll run with friendly helpful staff, 10/10.
Took the children for summer holiday activities, the staff are ever so polite and always happy to help little readers
