About

The Larder on Goosegate restaurant, Hockley, Nottingham

Story

Since opening in 2007, The Larder has earned a reputation as one of Nottingham's best independent restaurants. Our cooking style is best described as British and European, with a daily changing menu based around excellent seasonal produce. We are housed in the beautiful Grade 2 listed building that once was home to Jesse Boot's first apothecary and many original architectural features remain. We are located in Hockley, just a few minutes from Market Square, the centre of the city.

"Since opening in 2007, The Larder has earned a reputation as one of Nottingham's best independent restaurants. Seasonal British dishes are served in the elegant surroundings of the historic building that was once home to the first Boot's Chemist. Find us in the Michelin, Harden's and Good Food Guides."

A really nice meal which we both enjoyed. Having over indulged over the Christmas period we fancied yet another lunch and were very pleasantly surprised by our meal at The Larder. I had the salmon as my starter and it was a perfect light introduction to my meal. My partner had the aubergine which he enjoyed. I couldn't decide between the duck and the lamb for my main. Thankfully my partner had the duck so I could have the lamb and get a taste of what I had missed. Both were equally tasty and we both enjoyed our meals. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant cosy with interesting links to local history, Boots the chemist. Would definitely recommend.
Went on a Friday evening without booking but luckily got a table! Food was really good although a little pricy but it did worth the price! Can also go with the fixed price menu which is really good value! Passion fruit cheese cake was so delicious! Definitely recommend!
Went for 3 courses for a birthday meal and can’t fault it. Lovely food and good service.
Wonderful atmosphere and lovely staff. The food was delicious and served beautifully. Mentioned in the Michelin Guide 2017 for a reason! Just make sure you book in advance.
A fabulous little independent restaurant that has a relaxed atmosphere in a formal, fine dining setting without feeling too fancy or overly haute cuisine. The focus is on the taste of the food, which has always been exceptional. Often local produce with high quality ingredients. The staff have always been a pleasure alongside. Thoroughly deserving of a Michelin ‘Bib Gourmand’ for great value tasty dining.
Very good food. The braised beef was very tender. Risotto very juicy. The staff was friendly & welcoming. A must try if your in Nottingham.
Very nice Restaurant!! A fusion between the classic English cuisine and a more modern approach to it. I of course enjoyed the food, but I have a couple of criticisms related the main courses: they should be simpler and less complicated to taste... Too many flavours and ingredients for a classic of the UK cuisine. Anyway, nice atmosphere and lovely environment.
Lovely food, good service
Took my wife last Wednesday had a fantastic 2 course set meal great value for quality food that was served. The waitress was brilliant made the evening very memorable. Top marks to the chefs too food was delicious.
I really loved this place. It exists in the building where the first boots the pharmacist was opened which I really liked. The food was also amazing. I had the beetroot cheesecake as a starter, the gnocchi as a main and the chocolate mousse for dessert. I especially liked the gnocchi, I thought they were incredible, very fluffy and tasty.
