Out into a lovely free space with the cru. Triple birthday. We had a grand time. About 16 of us canoeing and camping about 3 weeks ago. Barb and Joseph were so welcoming and sorted us out a treat and such a proper nice place to have a camp. A right royal new Zealand welcome we had a little like wild camping but with a pub at your doorstep. We felt both looked after and left to our own devices, not got the tight rules or partitioned camping spots you might find elsewhere and in our humble opinion the better for it. It might not be for those wanting numbered pitches and sparkly toilets, but right up our street, we Will return for sure. Many thanks!
We were only ment to stay a day and ended up staying 3 days. Such a beautiful place to pitch a tent. You have so much privacy and are able to light a lovely fire surrounded by trees and the river. Everyone there is so nice. I would highly recommend.
Interesting and random are the first two thoughts that come to mind! This place is both beautiful and disgusting. On the one hand it is incredibly close to nature and if one is interested in roughing it somewhat in a forest on the banks of the Wye where fires are allowed and you can take all the wood you need then it is for you. If on the other hand you are looking for a clean and organised campsite with good facilities then I suggest you look elsewhere because you will not like this place. It is a place with an incredible amount of potential but it just seems to have been mostly neglected. There are bags of rubbish all over the site, very few hardstandings and the toilet facilities are dire. I gave it three stars because I have an open mind and I see the beauty through all the abandoned caravans, tents and general rubbish and if you can see past that you will enjoy it as much as we have. But you must come here with a very open mind.
We camped here between Christmas 2016 and new year.We chose this site because we wanted a fire. Didn't have any prices on the website but went for it anyway.£10 a head per night , really wasn't expecting that. It was nice camping in the woods but miles away from a water point and even further to the loos.
Stayed here with my partner and 1 year old child for an evening in november 2017. I must say i loved our time here. The place is what it says it is. Back to nature camping and wild camping experience if you want “clean camping” then this is not for you. I found the owners very helpful and welcoming and i would have stayed here longer if we were not on our way home the day after. We parked up, had a campfire and were left to our own devices. If my perants had taken me to somwhere like this growing up i would have been very happy loads of places to explore. I agree that some areas could use a little maintanence but this does not effect your stay at all. I will definatly be coming back for a lads weekend canoeing and some beers. Really dont see what people are complaining about its great to find a place with character finally!
The website does not reflect the neglected state of this campsite and pub, which seems to be closed. There are piles of hard core, abandoned caravans, vehicles and litter. There are a number of old permanently occupied mobile homes and caravans and very few sites for touring campers. The toilet block is falling apart and has not beed cleaned. The peacocks scream all night and the night we were there some residents had a bonfire into which they were throwing explosive material most likely gas canisters. The website demands full payment to book a pitch but you definitely need to inspect this site before paying. This is the worse campsite we have stayed in, ever!
Hi all We just came back from holiday. Long weekend in Wales. We need to share some experiance. We stop in Hollybush camping. We payed £26 per night 2 adults, dog and EHU. Thats what we found in this place see pictures. Place was dirty, looks like dump site. Avoid at any price
I second Marie's comments. We booked into B&B on our second day as we couldn't face another night at Hollybush. The toilets and showers are dirty, and the campsite is run down and really messy. Worst place I've ever stayed.
Had a fantastic family weekend last year with the canoeing the next day ,it's not glamping but it's all about ruffing it but with out putting up a tent up, it's a bit like real Indians would live in teepee in a way... but would recommend to anyone tho, Beautiful palaces great friendly people... but don't mess with Barbara!!!! She is a caricature Hehe; 5star will be back agian!!!
If you want to camp in natural woods, sit round a camp fire & swim in the river - this place is unbeatable! If you want a bidet & complimentary copy of the telegraph, it might not be for you...
