Went in for a light bite for lunch and while not expecting much was extremely underwhelmed. Fries were dry to tasteless and the sourdough for the chicken sandwich was dry and extremely small. Smaller than the kids menu burgers for our children and just a bit bigger than the top of a pint glass. Wife and kids food was similarly poor quality. Tasted like a poor version of a chain pub in a service station. The staff while friendly when we pointed out the very small portions said this was standard for their lunch menu. A pub that focuses as a restaurant will need to much better to attract people to its more remote location.
We went with our daughter and son in law for lunch today. The outside of the pub needs a face-lift but inside is very nice and cosy. The service was great and the food was very good. Good value too
Very enjoyable Friday lunch with family. The pub has plenty of room to spread out or find a nice quieter area. We have visited a few times and will return in the future. My only criticism would be the area around the pub, garden and car park was untidy with general rubbish possibly from an open bin somewhere, but this is very minor, as the Greyhound has nice food, it's a nice place with friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
I really enjoyed my meal here. The menu had a good selection of meals to choose from, and the portions were just right along with presentation. Staff greeted us pleasantly on arrival and were helpful and friendly through the duration of my stay.
Greyhound is a fantastic country pub, located amongst green pastures of beautiful Brentwood. I love the decor and friendliness of the staff. Particularly Stacey, she was our waitress and such a breath of fresh air, she is very nice and enthusiastic about providing the best customer service I’ve ever received. And the food is absolutely delicious. I could live in this pub, love it love it love it !
Absolutely amazing food, as always! Proper restaurant quality. Regularly changing menu, gorgeous tasting meals, great value and we've always had great service. Today we were served by the lovely Stacey and she was so friendly and helpful. I've been recommending it to everyone!
A fantastic, cosy pub. Very dog friendly all the hosting team make such a fuss of our pup we go here regularly and have never had a bad meal. The Vintage Inn chain just seems to deliver every single time much better than Harvester/Beefeater etc.. food always tastes fresh, looks great and there is always a wide selection available. We was served by Ella last night and she was an absolute delight and a credit to the team!
Visited here on the weekend during a hike. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was very homely. My friends and I ordered food 4x signature burgers and a sirloin steak and some drinks. The food was reasonably priced for what you get, and the drinks were a good price, compared to what you'd pay in a lot of pubs these days £4.80 for a pint of Pravha. I had some issues with this pub during Covid-times. They randomly cancelled my reservation on the day of a booking, about 18 months ago, without any explanation. So having finally visited, I'm glad I had a nice time. The woman serving us also managed to find our group of 5 a table to sit together, when they were already pretty much fully booked, so that was appreciated too.
We are new to the area and we were looking for a family friendly pub that allowed dogs and we are so happy to call the Greyhound our new local. Not only are the people so genuine and friendly but the management and staff are unbelievably accommodating and we feel so blessed to have found this little gem so close to Thorndon Park. Thanks to Matt and the team for welcoming us into your lovely pub and cant wait for next Sundays Roast… best potato’s in Essex.
We came for a family New Years lunch today, it was our first time here, restaurant was bright and welcoming - lovely atmosphere with a warm fire. Food was lovely - service from Sophie was informative and friendly . we all agreed we will be back .
