Lovely pub with friendly staff and a good variety of food. It is exactly that kind of pub that every neighbourhood should have where you can take your children and the whole family for a meal and a couple of pints. They have outdoor tables as well and a parking area too.
An absolutely lovely country pub with a decent selection of beers and the best steak pie I've had anywhere. I'm not sure when the building dates from but the low ceilings and oak beams look like they've been there a while. The staff are brilliant too, in fact the only slight snag is that the place can get very busy and you can sometimes wait a while for food, not a problem for me because, in my opinion at least, the food is worth waiting for. All in all one of my very favourite pubs and well worth a visit.
Had a lovely meal with my daughter, niece and sister-in/law today. Food was excellent with good service. Real nice homemade style food and very generous portions. Recommend the liver.
Cracking bit of steak pie. The picture paints a thousand gravy filled words. Worth the 2 hour drive from Eastbourne
Only popped in for a drink and to feed the child. Honestly the quality of the children's dinner has definitely made this a place I'm coming back too. It's a propa old pub with some characters in there. Staff were so friendly a special thanks to the lady that booked my daughter under 'princess' Really warm welcoming and friendly pub plus the food was excellent. Everyone there was having a good time. Thank you for this one off visit as I'll definitely be back with the family.
A wonderful country pub, with very friendly staff, and a small selection of real ale on pump. The food is always really good, and generous portions. As it's so popular, it can get very busy, and for eating at weekends I'd recommend booking in advance. Parking can be very tight and can be a struggle for large vehicles.
Don't normally leave reviews, but this pub and the staff deserve it. I'm Staying in a hotel down the road , Decided to have dinner and watch football start of the week. Bar staff are really welcoming, the pub is typical country pub, warm and cosy with friendly locals. The food is exceptional,I've been back every evening since. As much as I can't wait to see my kids,I'm going to miss having this pub walking distance from me. I'm back in the area in march, can't wait to have a lovely meal there.
OMG had the most delicious lunch here on Friday great service and choice of food and finished with an Expresso Martini - excellent!
The waiting staff were attentive and quick to bring over drinks - nice atmosphere for a beer or two - but the food was bad. I ordered the homemade steak and ale pie pictured in a lot of the reviews. This turned up with patches of heat, but mostly very cold. After sending it back, we were served a nice slice of microwaved homemade pie. The chips were tasty, the pie was pretty awful. The meat was grainy and the pastry had a couple of tough spots where it had been zapped in the microwave I think. I imagine it's fine when freshly cooked, but the grainy meat and bistro gravy was poor. I'd probably have been happy if I'd ordered fish and chips.
The place is great! An independent pub that offers really excellent food and plenty of space to sit outside where you can enjoy very nice views.
