Absolutely incredible Sunday roast, wonderful atmosphere, cannot recommend enough! Definitely will be coming back and recommending to friends!
Friendly, good beer, good food.. Exactly what it should be. It is popular locally, so can be a bit crowded. First time was a bit of a 'not sure' experience, but the place has grown on us. Definitely worth a visit.
Good food! Lovely old pub on a fairly quiet country route. I'm upgrading my previous review due to today's visit on 22/09/2021 midday afternoon booking. Fantastically helpful staff serving really good tasty tucker in a great tidy little old pub. Toilets very clean Plenty of parking too. The only niggle I'm going to bring up was the occasional sewage smell emanating from a badly sealed manhole cover in the beer garden, not too great I'm afraid and needs rectifying really. But other than that, nicely run! ‍ ‍ Thank you for today.
We reserved a table for five for last Sunday as a birthday treat to my mother in law. After being shown our table, we were left for over 25 minutes for our drinks order to be taken after we called for service. One hour later, we were still waiting.... Having then asked where our food was, embarrassed, the waitress admitted that our order appeared to be lost. So another 25 minutes wait for our food to arrive. The roast dinner was OK, but nothing special. The roast potatoes tasted powdery, like they had possibly been reheated. My mother in law enjoyed herself. And they did offer to give us our drinks for free as compensation, but I still cannot recommend this place fir food.
Understaffed for funeral wake, 1 person who was beyond slow and un interested in the customers, guess the manager had no choice but to help out. Buffet provided by Brakes, all processed and prepacked nothing new there . Use to be my local , but used on and off as my business lunchtime pub for 20 years then prior to that in my courting youth days. But will I go back...no no longer a family run pub and has lost its heart. Sad but that's life.
Really lovely and helpful staff! Fab food. First time going there tonight but definitely going back soon.
Food was cooked perfectly. Good size meals. Staff all very attentive. We will return soon. Thank you
Went to the olde dog Inn this afternoon with my wife and mother in law and our 6 month old Westie 'Winnie'. 1st time here after search for dog friendly pubs in Essex. Super Real local pub. 16th century. A real find.Just had some wine and a beer. We'll be back for some food. Wonderful place. No big screen tv showing footie, just as a pub should be. Real fires, a menu of locally sourced produce and friendly locals. We'll be back for fud very soon.
What a fabulous pub, highly recommend! Had a faultless Sunday dinner. Food was great, service great, staff were lovely. The owners are doing everything right here.. I will definitely go back and will be recommending to friends too. Lovely welcoming atmosphere. You go a long way to find a beautiful pub which has it all..and this one does!
I was part of a group of 14 people who ate at The Olde Dog on Saturday. I can see why it's on the lists of the best pubs in the area - it's a lovely traditional village pub with great food and a lovely atmosphere. It was easy to find with plenty of parking. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a wide range of traditional pub food, across three courses. And the music isn't too loud to have a conversation. The staff understood our dietary requirements and knew what contained which allergens. They let us pick and mix items from different dishes to make more dishes gluten free. I would definitely go back to The Olde Dog. We had a great evening and were well fed and watered in a beautiful rustic setting.
