My family fell in love with this establishment and the wonderful village of Cromford. We wish we had spent more days in this area exploring all the other beautiful places close by. The owners were so helpful and the food was excellent. Their room prices and pub prices are very reasonable. We had the only family room, our teenager was delighted with the separate room to at they stepped down into, it was very cozy. Rooms: Rooms are clean, neat and have all the basic necessities like hairdryer, shampoo and soap. We were very happy with our family room with a separate attached room for our child and a spacious en suite. Nearby activities: So many things to do in the whole of the Peak District. We chose to visit Chatsworth House and Bakewell but there are so many other special places to explore too. Safety: Felt very safe in this area. Walkability: The town of Cromford is delightful and there are so lovely shops to poke around it. Definitely visit the bookshop and look for the hidden cafe within. Food & drinks: All the meals we had at this establishment were truly top notch and very well priced.
We didn’t stay in any rooms and came only for food. The previous owners, whilst charging high prices for food, always delivered excellent food and service. This has now changed, there is no table service now, you have to join a long queue at the bar. There were only 2 staff in the bar which was completely inadequate for the amount of customers in the pub although they were friendly. The food quality was not great and pretty tasteless which is a shame as before it was one of the nicest places to eat in the area.
Went for a meal. On the 27.07.24 . 4 of us were only given 2 menus. Asked what drinks we wanted while sat down but no drinks menu. So went to the bar myself. Ordered a £25 lamb meal was brought what can only be described as a measly bit of tough tasting meat and a bit of mash potato. With a teaspoon of non tasting sauce. I think they think they are a bling bling restaurant. Think they should just stick to pub grub and sort there prices out for what you get is terrible
Myself & my husband & our dog.had a few days at the greyhound.we had a fantastic time.we were made so welcome.the staff were brillant .the breakfast & the food was excellent. Will definitely be going again soon.& would certainly recommend staying. Rooms: Our room was very spacious we had a very big bathroom which was wonderful.lovely & peaceful .wonderful views .our dog was made so welcome.the thing that we also like alot.was that our dog is a nervous girl.we could take her down for breakfast & meal.we were so very happy to have found a place where we all enjoyed.nothing was to much trouble.with brillant staff.cant wait for our next trip .
Stayed previously before new owners and was fantastic. I am hoping they are just finding their feet as this is a lovely hotel and location . The room a was clean and tidy however was up a number of flights of stairs and small for 2 adults and a dog also the glass window looking into the bathroom from the bedroom is a little bizarre. So there was no privacy Breakfast was nice, a point would probably be have bacon and not the thick steak as it was extremely fatty and couldn’t be eaten. Which wasn’t included in the price of the stay. It wasn’t mentioned at the time as the dining area was busy When checking out we weren’t asked how our stay had been and would have highlighted the above points then. The stay wasn’t particularly cheap and was for a birthday break. So quite disappointing I hope this review comes across as constructive as stated it’s a lovely hotel and may just be settling down time
We booked a table for 4 people for Sunday lunch at 4.30pm.we we're told that food service ended at 6pm. Menus were brought to the table and the waitress informed us that they had run out of Yorkshire puddings!. A bit disappointing. We waited for someone to take our order to be told that we needed to order at the bar. As there were no Yorkshire puddings I asked if we could have cauliflower cheese instead which wasn't a problem. Our meals came small portions no stuffing certainly not worth £18.50. We felt that they gave us what they had got left, 2 roast potatoes no mash. We certainly wouldn't recommend this.
Poorly maintained establishment that does not have to invest in decent furnishings as it is in a popular tourist location. Allows feral children to run wild so popular with that sort of family. Staff are friendly and hardworking but not enough of them to provide good service or prevent long waits at the bar for drinks. Food & drinks: Oddly no star rating is available for food quality. Ordered the curry of the day which on the evening I visited was 'Thai chicken' The dish looked like something the dog had thrown up but I shouln't have worried as it was completely tasteless and bland with no seasoning and apparently no spices either. Staff were friendly and helpful however and if you enjoy tasteless food in the company of feral children running wild this is definitely the place for you
The new owners have only taken over in the last few weeks. They are working so hard to make sure your stay is a good experience. Certainly deserve to be a success. Rooms good ish , food superb service excellent. Would encourage anyone to patronise.Rooms: 4/5
Spent a wonderful night here, our room was spacious and very clean. Tea and coffee facilities, biscuits and even some crisps to munch on after our day exploring. Evening meal was lovely I had the steak my partner the burger. Fabulous full English breakfast with toast and orange juice. We had an issue with our TV but they couldn't be more helpful. Great value for money in a beautiful location will definitely visit again. Rooms: Clean, quiet with everything you need Nearby activities: Cromford Mill and Cromford canal a short walk away. Matlock Bath a short drive. Food & drinks: Delicious food
Popped in for lunch. Open and spacious with a good seating plan. Tasty food, well presented at reasonable prices. Excellent draught beer. Overall - what's not to like?Rooms: 4/5
