Story

The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the Tyne Valleys village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian's Wall Country, Hexham, and Northumberland's National Park.

The Inn had an extensive refurbishment 6 years ago. The décor reflects the traditional country inn history but with a modern twist. The existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics.

Food is served seven days a week in the dining room or in the bar area. The food provides traditional British comfort eating to an exceptional standard and makes use of local, seasonal ingredients. A comprehensive range of beers and ales compliments an extensive wine list.

The inn experience continues with seven bedrooms consisting of 6 double rooms and 1 twin room, providing a very high quality of luxury accommodation. 2 of the double rooms are dog-friendly.

The outstanding views across the Tyne valley provide the ultimate conclusion to a visit to The Duke of Wellington which will stay with you long after you leave.

Heard good things about this pub. After trying a lot of places I give it a go and honestly I’ve never been so disgusted in pub food as this one. The Sunday lunch was disgraceful. In 15 mins we arrived. Been served. Ate and table cleaned. The food was terrible. When leaving we seen a chef having a break and he told us everything is frozen. Nothing is fresh. Even the veg. Nice pub. And drinks but avoid like the plague if u want food.

Beautiful rooms, cosy dining room, friendly staff, very comfortable stay. Amazing food - and made up a delicious vegan dish for me as they didn't have anything on their menu. Definitely worth a few nights stay

Warm, comfortable atmosphere! Room had wonderful amenities. Restaurant and staff were friendly and accommodating. Just slightly off beaten path, it felt like a secret passageway to get there!

Had a lovely lunch at The Duke before Christmas. It's one of our favourite dog friendly pubs to take the pup while we enjoy some food. Good food and lovely surroundings as always!

Quite lovely, accommodation was fab. Staff were superb. The food was brilliant, can recommend the eggs royale for breakfast. Faultless.
