If you’ve booked before reading the reviews and now you’re freaking out imaging the worse, please don’t. It’s perfectly fine, in fact for the price it’s brilliant. The wallpaper in our room had a few scuffs, there was a bit of peeling paint above the toilet door, and a small threadbare patch on the carpet. It’s an old building, they’re frequently difficult to maintain and temperamental but full of charm. The lift is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, probably not many of them like that left working in the UK. If this hotel had no little issues here and there it would be three times the price to stay. I’d happily stay here again. Nearby activities: Great location Walkability: Very near Warwick Avenue Bakerloo line Food & drinks: Breakfast was fine, cold cuts, cereals, yoghurt, toast, refillable tea, coffee juice,
Stayed here for 10 days and I probably would've left if it wasn't my grandmother who booked us here. I'm all about a quaint little Victorian spot to get away but this place was REALLY old. Outside looks amazing and the restaurant in the basement has a nice lounging environment to it, but the rooms and halls of this place need to be renovated. I don't mean just a paint job. It's safe to say the place was falling apart. Walls and floors had several cracks. Lots of uneven areas. Carpet on the stairs was coming off almost stepped on tacks and were very uneven and windy. I could've picked up a piece of tile out of the floor of our bathroom cause it literally wasn't stuck to the floor. The ceilings also had lots of water damage. The service could've been better. This place is understaffed and really don't act like they care, minus one lady that was a big help at the front desk, bless her heart. This place I believe has 4 floors and the elevator only goes up to the 2nd floor. The elevator itself was extremely dodgy looking. Used a gate around it instead of regular doors. It didn't work half the time I honestly felt like that piece of crap was gonna drop me at any moment. They put us in a room on the 3rd floor after my 80 year old grandmother booked for a room on the ground floor cause she can't be bothered to go up and down those horrendous stairs every day at her age. You can forget about water pressure in this place. Water in the shower was either too hot or too cold also. The lady at the desk was able to switch us to a room on the first floor which was a little better until sewage started coming up into our tub. This place has really bad plumbing. My dad couldn't even take a shower without it burning his skin off. The ac units are dodgy as well. I felt like I was going to the front desk about an issue every day. I wanted to give this place 2 or even 1 star, but it does have charm and the lady at the front desk was super busy and still tried to make the experience better for us and got our rooms switched around. It's also impossible to find ice water in this place. The Continental breakfast was very bland and they served the same thing every day, except one day they served a really tasty potato salad. Ham, cheese, tomato, boiled egg, bread, and apples is all they really serve. They did offer a very nice afternoon tea but you have to book it 24 hrs in advance.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this The Colonnade hotel, and I must say that my experience was nothing short of exceptional. Despite coming across several negative reviews, I found it difficult to comprehend the reasons behind the dissatisfaction expressed by others. The hotel boasts a wonderfully cosy atmosphere, with an exceptional team of staff who made my stay truly memorable. The location is absolutely ideal, and the facilities cater to a wide range of needs, making it a versatile choice for various types of travellers. During my stay, I encountered an issue that was unrelated to the hotel itself. When I sought assistance from the reception, I was met with outstanding support from both the receptionist and the manager. They went above and beyond to help me, showing remarkable patience and kindness, especially given my limited English. Their genuine warmth and willingness to assist made a significant difference. There were only a couple of minor points that I feel are worth mentioning. Firstly, the shower appeared to be malfunctioning, and it took me a little while to figure out that the indicator marked the maximum rotation. Secondly, I went with great expectations for breakfast, I wanted a nice and elegant British breakfast, but it was the common colonial coffee. It was my fault of course. Overall, these were small issues in an otherwise superb stay. The hotel's charm, combined with its outstanding service and prime location, makes it a fantastic choice. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a warm and welcoming place to stay.
Nice hotel that's close to the city while being quiet during the nights. Staff was always nice and helpful. Our room was cleaned daily, with refreshments being regularly stocked up. We would happily return here again. Rooms: Nice room with a double bed, enough cupboards for two people. Nice bathroom with a bathtub included Nearby activities: 5 minute walk towards the canals and 10 minute walk to paddington station Safety: The front desk was always manned. Walkability: 2 minute walk towards the closest tube station. About 5 minutes to the canals and about 10 minutes towards paddington station Food & drinks: Nice continental breakfast with everything being continously refilled. Restaurant is available from lunch and through dinner Noteworthy details: Nice hotel with classic charme across the board. Our room came with towels, shower gel, shampoo and soap. Also available in our room was a hair dryer as well as an ironing board and iron, as well as a fridge. We also had a teapot with tea, milk and sugar available in our room.
I stayed at the Colonnade hotel Nov 6 to 10 2024. My room was on the ground floor, which was great as I had heavy suitcase. The room was quiet, comfortable, the water was hot and the bath big. Staff are very helpful. Nearby activities: Little Venice Walkability: Maida Vale is a great walking area
The staff at this hotel are fabulous. I was on an education trip with some kids and the air bnb let me down and we had no where. We were able to book a room and even though it was late at night the staff could not do enough to help. The room was expensive but it was an experience we will not forget. Thank you for your kindness it helped in a very stressful situation
Building from outside looks great, but... Room was very old and needs a lot of renovations, it wasn't clean at all. In the middle of the room was portative air-conditioning, cause one which is on a wall probably doesn't work. Furniture have a lot of stains, shower wall full of red molt, bathroom floor have stains on a floor specially next to the toilet don't even want to think what are they. Bed was quite comfortable. Service was ok, receptionist was polite, breakfast quite poor...but when you see the cleaning lady walking through and without even taking gloves off taking from the table banana and eggs to her pocket.....it's disgusting..... Wouldn't give them a 4 star as it's mentioned.... maybe decades ago, but for now.....max 2 in my opinion
the outside of the hotel is beautiful but the rooms were a disappointment. was greeted by a very unwelcoming receptionist. very unpleasant. handed the key to the room and told what room but no help at all on where the room was. the lift is very very old and dodgy. at first look when walking into it looks very spacious but after being in the room for a while, it’s very dated and dirty. bed was very unstable, could feel every spring and there was already hairs in the sheets before we even got into bed. the blanket on the bed had very questionable stains. bedsheets ripped and fabric ripped on the chair inside the room. very very noisy. could hear every single movement in the hotel. all staff very unfriendly and made to feel uncomfortable. all round unpleasant. won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend to anyone. paid £132 for an “upgraded” room but if this was upgraded then i dred to think what a basic room looks like.
This is not a four star as advertised , however in our experience not as bad as we thought it would be given the reviews. The hotel itself and the reception area have some lovely period features and the staff couldn't be more friendly. Yes it is tired and needs updating, but we paid £80 and a Travelodge was £200 plus, so being realistic it was just. Beautiful location, close to the tube, follow the canal and there are some amazing restaurants.
We arrived at 3am and the receptionist was sleeping on his couch next he search our reservation for 30 min because he wasn’t able to find it we showed him the reservation with the name and he showed us 3 other’s reservation with another name he wasn’t very receptive . There is no lift to the floor where our room was , the hotel is very old but pretty inside the location is pretty good , when we arrived in our bedroom it smells toilets , the room was clean For the breakfast I think its not worth it there is some fresh foods that stay outside at ambiant temperatures
