Despite some middle-of-the-road reviews, we were very impressed with our visit. Very tasty and generous portions, cold and fizzy beer and service with a smile. What is there not to like?!
We had a lovely meal for 12 of us n a long table. Great service and fabulous traditional Indian menu.Food: 5/5
Tough chewy chicken ,cold rice and a soggy nann bread. Staff also very rude. Thanks for a lovely experience. £20 well spentFood: 1/5
This is a rather average restaurant, and could do with some updating. Across from where we were sat, one of the bench seats was held together with packing tape. Not a good look. The service was good and prompt - but perhaps a bit prompt as the waiter was trying to load our small table with our main course dishes while were just halfway through our poppadoms. The mains were piping hot, but we both felt they lacked the real flavour promised in the menu. It's a decent sized dining room, and on a bank holiday Monday at 7pm about 5 were taken. I doubt you'd need to book a table. Parking: The restaurant has no parking of its own. Depending on the time of day, you may find free on-street parking, or may have to pay. Alternatively, there are pay+display car parks in Sidmouth. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy wheelchair access from the street.
Very happy with the food, really enjoyed it. Check your bill though! I asked for an orange juice that was advertised as 200ml but I was given a pint. I pointed this out and they said they would only charge me for the smaller glass. When the bill came. There were two lots of drinks on it, £8.45 which was correct for a glass of wine and an orange juice, but an additional item for £9.45 was also on the bill. They removed this when I drew their attention to it. I didn't leave a tip, which is very unusual for me. Good food, sad about the deceit.
Rather stiff, not cosy. The food was uninspiring, edible but dreary.Food: 3/5
Had a very tasty meal at the cinnamon Tree. Staff friendly, polite and efficient. The restaurant was clean. To me that's more important than the decor.Food: 5/5
Unwelcoming and rude staff specifically the guy in the blue hoodie working there that snatched bowls off our table and seemed angry with us throughout the meal. We were given just washed cutlery that was dripping wet and the food was at best mediocre. Poppadoms were stale and curries tasted all the same. Best thing was the after eight chocolates and getting out of there at the end. Won't be back.
After being warned not to bother eating here by two different locals we did anyway as the wife wanted a curry First impressions were not good, 70's seating, 80's decor with a menu from the same era. Not the worst Indian food we have ever experienced but very far from the best being over priced with staff who weren't very polite either. Save your money and get a microwave meal from Tesco, it will be better.
The owner is condescending, horrible to his staff and pompous. We've been coming for years but I can't stand him anymore. Food is OK, curries are tasty, the naan is fine, though little cheese on the cheese naan. He made a point of telling us he was sending someone to the supermarket to get ice cream when we chose dessert instead of coffee from the set menu.... Our waiter was browbeaten and frankly looked scared stiff of the owner. All in all a terrible experience.
