Amazing place to eat. Highly recommend. Clean. Really friendly, happy staff. Clean. Great prices. Food was immense. Ordered a mega mix grill and a loaded surf and turf. All piping hot and sizzling. It tasted delicious. Was perfect. If you visit York you must come in here for a bite to eat. I would book as very busy.
Such a lovely pub environment, we have been coming for 5 years and the service is incredible! The staff are always smiling and always good to chat too even when they are busy! The food is always 5* no matter what we decide to have! Huge shout out to Catie, who always serves us and make sure we are happy and everything is spot on! We will see you again!!

Popped in for lunch on our way to York, was clean and tidy with friendly staff and the food was good. Even though it was busy we didn't have to wait too long for our food though we do feel it was a little under-seasoned appreciate that some people like to add their own, but the "seasoned chips" on the menu arrived plain. Minor point however and we would definitely visit again if we're in the area!
Not often does a place cook great meals on a Monday and being their first customer for menu opening they did just that. Food was fresh and so good! Great deals they had. 2 for £10 Mains & 3 for £11 starters which is what we got. And not a single crumb left by the time we were finished. Too good and we’ll be back
Joined some friends for an after dinner drink. Busy pub, buzzing atmosphere, looks to be student country. Everyone was friendly and the booth we sat in gave us an uninterrupted evening to enjoy catching up with our friends. Food was being served until 9pm, looked good, plenty eating so may try next timeService: 4/5
The Black Bull is always a safe bet for a reasonable meal. The venue is always clean and tidy and big enough with ample seating of all types. They have a lovely outdoor area at the front with open seating and little, non-smoking, huts where you can still eat outside, even if the weather isn't great...a nice touch for people who don't like busy spaces or need privacy. I have found the food to be a little hit and miss here. It's okay and is always well cooked and there's enough of it but it's usually just okay. It is good value for money though as the menu isn't expensive. I'm not sure about the alcoholic range as I don't drink so I don't know whether they do craft beers or ales. The do seem to have a lot of flavoured gins and a few different lagers. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options available on th emenu. Kid-friendliness: There are family tables in the eating area and there is a kids menu. The pub is family and child friendly. There are a few kids machines that you put a pound into and you get a small toy and there is a grabber machine. Parking: There is parking at the front of the building. There is a large car park at the back of the building which is shared with the Travelodge that is attached to the Black Bull pub.
Great food and at a good price. The staff are very busy but always help when asked. A great place to eat and worth a visit. Look out for discounts if you have the App.Food: 4/5
Met the lovely Charis who provided me with icy cold stella after a hard day fitting solar and a 120 mile drive from Northampton. Very helpful pours a good pint and just an all round lovely personality. An absolute credit to the pub
The food was cheap and cheerful. But the quality was really good. The staff were friendly and helpful
