Wonderful impromptu lunch in the garden at the Bay Tree Hotel, Burford. We were non-residents and happened upon this lovely place by chance on a warm, sunny day. The thing that struck us immediately was how welcoming all the staff were, from Reception to waiting staff. Very accommodating and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a lovely meal - fish and chips and a chicken caesar salad. Would definitely return. Food & drinks: Very nice menu, good quality and presentation.
Venue was our son's wedding Sat 18th May. Reception were excellent, rooms were clean and in fantastic condition. The food was presented and served to a high standard. I highly recommend The Bay Tree Hotel. My thanks to the Staff.
Three nights DBB with our young dog in a really wonderful setting and location. Very good service and accommodation in the lovely garden rooms. Quality and variety of evening meals rather disappointing and overpriced. Good breakfasts though. Excellent parking too! Rooms: Fabulous! Our garden-room was lovely and extremely well equipped. WiFi was always reliable and the whole experience with our dog was great. The public rooms have an abundance of charm and character. Nearby activities: Lots to do in this area with many dog friendly establishments. You can see a fair bit of the Cotswolds in three days. Safety: This building dates back to Elizabethan times so expect uneven floors in some places. The stepped pavement outside the garden rooms is an accident waiting to happen. Walkability: Very easy to walk into Burford without moving the car. Burford is a lovely Cotswold market town with great shops and a wonderful parish church. Food & drinks: This is the weak point of this hotel. Sunday dinner was good as the Sunday lunch roasts were still available and obviously freshly cooked. The standard dinner menu resumed on subsequent nights and the choice and quality was disappointing at this price point. The £35 dinner allowance would not really cover two courses and the discretionary 12.5% service charge is prohibitive which probably explains why the dining room was virtually empty on each of our three nights.
Great place, was here last week for a wedding. Nice setting, clean, great staff and to top it off my mother and partner stayed local and couldn’t get a taxi home, the manager personally took her home what a thing to do. Thank you.Rooms: 5/5
Very disappointing. Staff tried hard but were inexperienced. Food very disappointing for what is supposed to be a premier hotel with top prices. Breakfast was very nice but staff unable to cope. Had superior bedroom. Very spacious and lovely bathroom and shower.
Brilliant private dining hire for birthday celebrations. Great variety of menus - we opted for a hot buffet which was excellent. The room was great, garden beautiful, and staff all incredibly friendly and helpful!
We had a wonderful experience with the Bay Tree Hotel! The service was excellent. The hotel is quaint. The room we had, a deluxe double Windrush, was spacious, clean, and so cute! It felt like a mini home instead of a hotel. The restaurant was delicious. The location is great for exploring the town, other areas in the Cotswolds, and Oxford. There was also plenty of parking out front. We traveled around the UK on our trip and stayed in 4 hotels. This was by far our favorite. If we visit the area again, we will be returning here for our stay!
The hotel is conveniently located in Burford with plenty of parking behind the hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very cosy and were well heated despite 0°C outside. Great comfortable bed. The rooms are not huge, but a good size to create a nice atmosphere. The fireplaces in the lounge area were excellent. I would stay here any time again.
We stayed the beginning of March for my wife’s birthday. When they realised it was her birthday, they upgraded us to a wonderful garden room, greeted us so warmly and even left a birthday card in our room. The welcome, friendly staff and overall experience made it a special birthday and fantastic break. A special mention to Alana who went above and beyond.
1 night with friends a pre Xmas get together. A lovely 600 year old building. Nicely appointed. Room large and comfortable. Bathroom modern. Staff very helpful. Was in main building and no lift. 1 couple were in Garden room outside. Main meal I had expected an Xmas menu but it was not so no crackers or hat or turkey. 35 pounds off the room rate is towards the meal. Enjoyed the 2 courses we had. But my husbands rump lamb was not that tender with a bit of gristle. None of the party had a sweet. 2 had steak and were happy with it. Nice fires in 2 rooms and bar. Complementary cocktail I choose unwisely as it was not nice but the others liked theirs. It was a Wednesday night 13.12 so it was quiet no buzz. But a nice place to stay
