Good location, however very dated hotel. Bathrooms need doing up, bath was half sized and mildew building up. Have to pre order breakfast the night before

Good clean place and friendly staff(although we only saw one person throughout our stay). Rooms are tidy and beds comfy even though we did struggle with the key at times to lock and unlock the door. Bar and lounge area is quite small and is locked off to the rooms around 10.30. Breakfast was brilliant quality and served on warm plates which I always appreciate. Overall a nice place to stop if visiting the surrounding area at a reasonable price.

Cold if the heaters aren't running, but otherwise very nice rooms. Breakfast so so. I'd have liked some less English options. Not a buffet style and orders placed the night before. Ample parking and a very short stroll from beautiful Burford high street. Lovely but expensive garden centre around the corner also.

We booked the four poster room; the layout of the room was odd, there was no light or plug near the dressing table so I had to crouch on the floor near the coffee table to do my hair and make-up. The wardrobe had spotlights above it though so perhaps changing the furniture round may help. The bathroom was a bit grubby, the rubber at the bottom of the shower screen was dirty and the shower hose was literally black with dirt. One of the shelves over the basin was loose. The hot water was not very hot however this was rectified once we pointed it out, as was the fact that the complimentary biscuits were out of date. The bed has lights fitted in it but they didn't work and only one of the bedside lights worked, the other just flickered. Bizarrely there were some sort of colour-changing lights round the top of the bed which was a little bit tacky. Having to give our breakfast choices the night before, and state what time we wanted to eat was strange for a hotel of this size however the cooked breakfast was very nice, the porridge was exceptionally good. The choice of cereal and fruit was rather limited, perhaps the individual cereal boxes would be a better idea, also there were no croissants etc. Other than the chef who brought our breakfast out the only other member of staff we saw was the gentleman who checked us in/out served tea and coffee and cleared our plates away, I assume he may be the owner and covers a multitude of jobs. He was very nice and helpful. Whoever the owner is they need to spend a bit of money and give the place some TLC. It is advertised as a 4-star guesthouse but unfortunately it is not worthy of 4-stars in its current state but the potential is definitely there.
