We had such a lovely evening at The Barge, honestly one of those meals where everything just works.nThe food was absolutely outstanding. The skewers were huge definitely not stingy portions! and cooked perfectly. The Moroccan chicken was incredibly tender, full of flavour with just the right level of spice, and the lamb skewer infused with wild garlic was something a bit different and really delicious. You can tell real care has gone into the menu.nThe sides were just as impressive, the hummus was smooth, rich and properly moreish, and the mango coleslaw added a fresh, slightly sweet contrast that worked beautifully with the grilled meats. Everything felt well thought out and balanced.nThe atmosphere in the pub was warm and relaxed, and it’s such a nice setting for an evening out. Service was friendly and easygoing, which made the whole experience even better.nGreat food, generous portions, lovely vibe, we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for somewhere a bit special but still relaxed.
The Barge is a welcoming local pub offering a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. The presence of a fireplace and comfortable seating creates an inviting environment, particularly in colder weather and the overall layout is well suited to both small groups and informal social gatherings.nnThe menu consists of classic pub dishes with a contemporary twist. Of particular note is the 3-for-£12 starters offer, which provides good value and works especially well as light bites to accompany drinks.
We were greeted by Sophie, turned out to be our waitress. We were cheeky and book last minute. Arrived far too early yes we were those pain in the backsides, apologies. But thank you so much, food was great service was even better.
Don’t like to leave bad reviews but was Absolutely gutted today as I ordered the lamb roast on Deliveroo today after reading all the comments I was really looking forward to it.nBut they just sent 3 piece of fat - more fat than lamb - and 2 1/2 potatoes second picture was all the lamb I could save but I was just left feeling Hungry and disappointed. I think they just thought because it was a delivery order they would send all the rubbish bits. One fatty bit maybe I’d of excused but all three bits…
Our waitress Allison was the most memorable part of our visit. She was friendly, entertaining and helpful. We enjoyed the decor and comfort of the pub. Parking was easy and available. Only suggestions I’d make would be add some local beers rather than just the usual macro brewing offerings. I prefer a smaller menu as it makes me think the focus is more on quality than having a huge choice, but this is just my personal opinion.
