The Abbey Inn is a lovely Samuel Smith pub in Darley, just north of Derby. The building is steeped in history, and you will find the decor inside to be just as cozy and rustic as you'd expect. The lady the behind the bar was very friendly and welcoming towards this German tourist, and I found it easy to talk to some of the patrons, too. The Samuel Smith beers are of very high quality, especially the Old Brewery Bitter a cask-conditioned favorite and the Pure Organic Lager; Samuel Smith have as many as four different lagers in their range, but this one is the best. You might also consider their various, mouth-watering fruit beers bottled only. Darley is a picturesque little village, certainly worth a visit - and The Abbey Inn is the perfect place to unwind from a walk through Darley Park.
A lovely Samuel Smith's pub with a great selection of both on tap and bottled beers. There's a green outside which gets busy on sunny summer days so it follows that there can be a bit of a wait at the bar, but persevere, it's well worth it!
The Abbey pub is beautiful and very old, and it is also a Samuel Smiths pub so you are guaranteed great beer, at a wonderfull price, half of wheat beer and half of larger for only £2.65 total. Also try the organic chocolate stout, its lovely! There is an upstairs bar, a downstairs bar, and also a very small outside seating area.
Beautiful building, cheap drinks and food and very friendly regulars. Such a wonderful building, full of history. We stayed for alot longer than we ment to. Plus it's by a beautiful park and the river, it's just great.
My fav place! Lovely atmosphere, amazing location, very good beer, even better prices, dog friendly..10/10 :
Wonderful olde style little pub with field opposite for summer drinking, and amazing value!
I've been in this pub years ago with my friend. Then I didn't visit it for at least 5 years. Meantime I found my friend ran this pub and when I wanted to visit her I heard she moved somewhere else. It didn't matter. It is in a good place. You can do either a walk around a river or have a picnic in the park. The prices of drinks there are definitely amazing. If it wasn't far for me I would be there very often.
Ahhhh The Abbey... Lovely staff and a fantastic range of local produce, from the beers to the crisps. This pub is doing it right. The prices are kept low due to no import tax, which is a bonus, and drinking here supports national brewers. Win - win!
Lovely atmosphere in a historic building, great place to visit whatever the season. Is a Samuel Smith pub so it is Very cheap. Sitting in the cosy undercroft is lovely in winter. Sunday lunches in the wonderfully picturesque first floor are delicious and great value for money. Enjoy. M
I felt very comfortable in this establishment although if you're a bit plump you may need to sit on a stool. Great beer - also nice smoking area outside. Will definitely call here again.
