First of all the B&B experience was 5/5 - super cozy room overlooking the harbor, great location and a lovely breakfast with lots of fruits nnThe dinner we had unfortunately didn’t meet expectations and was actually the worst we had in 5 nights Cornwall - that was honestly a surprise as this is one of Steins restaurants. The fish soup had no taste whatsoever as well as no actual fish/seafood in it which was disappointing given the proximity to the ocean. The duck was OK but nothing special and quite small while the potatoes were pure oil making us feel sick after dinner.nnAs there are tons of best practices available on great French bistro experiences both interior design and menu which I think is a great USP for this restaurant in Padstow I‘d hope for a re-launch of this restaurant.
Lovely hotel and bistro , we stayed for one night and had a meal.nAmazing food, rooms 5 stars very comfortable free toiletries , staff very very kind and attentive.nCocktail bar down stairs has excellent cocktails and great staff .
My wife and I enjoyed three wonderful nights at the St Petrocs Bistro.nnWe swapped between two rooms, both beautifully furnished and decorated to a high standard, with extremely comfortable beds providing a great night's sleep!nnOur first room was up on the top floor in the attic with views over the estuary. I believe this was one of the larger and more expensive rooms wife booked and it was extremely spacious and beautifully presented, but it was very warm on our arrival after a hot day. The team did provide a water cooling system, which did manage to cool the room down and they also offered to add ice to the machine in order to speed up the process. Otherwise, the room was fabulous and only warm for a couple of hours on one evening.nnAlthough sad to leave this room, we swapped to the Garden room on our last night which, whilst smaller, maintained the high standards of decoration, fixtures and fittings.nnWe ate at the restaurant on two evenings and the food was excellent on both occasions. Some reviews comment on pricing but the restaurant uses quality ingredients and we really enjoyed our meals. I also attended one of the cookery classes where we actually cooked a few of the menu items from the Seafood restaurant. Here too, the emphasis was on quality ingredients, and the standards are high.nnBut - our experience was made all the better due to the amazing team of great people working here! From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Lucy, we were made to feel so welcome. Nothing seemed too difficult for the team and they would often drop what they were doing to help or answer our questions. Deborah-Jane assisted us as we left, allowing us extra time to pack as we managed the demands of our three month old. I wish I had asked for all of their names as they all deserve a mention - they made our stay all the more enjoyable. Truly excellent service!!nnThank you very much indeed.
This is the first time we visited a Rick Stein’s eatery. There are several restaurants run by Rick in Padstow, one serving French cuisine and another offering international fusion menu. Finally we decided to go for the French food rather than its international fusion alternative. This cozy bistro has a 3 courses lunch menu which is well below £25 but they haven’t compromised the quality. The starter salad is very refreshing, the hake has a hint of fennel which makes it especially delicious. And the chocolate mousse is finished with a drop of whiskey that brings along more flavour. Also, its environment is truly relaxing. Generally speaking it’s an excellent experience.
We had a good meal here - however feel improvements are required for Petroc’s to be able to confidently demand its price tag. We ordered two appetisers - one didn’t arrive and they went straight to our main course. We mentioned the missing dish and they kindly gave us a sample free of charge. We both enjoyed the confit duck but found the meat far too salty and the potatoes too harsh on the garlic. We’d have much preferred more balance to the flavours as felt it was overcompensating. Having said that the service was brilliant - the staff were lovely and very accommodating of our pooch.
