Lovely stay here. Location was great. Staff really helpful and attentive. The room was lovely but be warned that live music is played next door until at least 11pm. As it’s a pub ain’t until midnight where things quieten down. We were aware of this risk as above a pub. But didn’t expect it to be so noisy. Noise does travel. But nevertheless a great experience and a nice stay in Padstow.
Great location right in Padstow harbour with pay and display car parks nearby. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean with all of the expected amenities including 2 cans of the local lager waiting for our arrival. The only downside would be the room was quite small but I think that's the norm in these locations. Never ate here in the evening as we had always planning on eating in Rick Steins nearby restaurant but the breakfast the next morning was good. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area.
Visited Sat night for a meal.nWe had no idea the candlelit room next door was dog friendly - absolutely fantastic, so cosy.nFood was outstanding. Service was incredible.nWe had olives to start from the Nibbles menu.nWe had plaice & scampi - both dishes were extremely delicious, plentiful. We shared the sticky toffee pud to finish.nWould highly recommend this restaurant, book a window seat over the harbour- you wont be disappointed.
We didn’t stay at the Old Custom House, we were there for a Sunday Roast.nnWe have been to the Old Custom House many many times and, unfortunately, this weekend might be our last visit. We love the feel and character of the venue AND the fact that they cater for dogs.nnHowever, we visited on Sunday for their Roast. We had a Roast Pork and a Veg Wellington. When it came it was barely warm. The pork belly was a very thick slice and what was supposed to be crackling was soft and like rubber. It was sent back to be crisped up which when returned was crisper but still not edible. The wellington didn’t have much filling, it was all pastry which was not, at all, crispy - very soggy made worse by having gravy poured over it. The potatoes were very pale and bland - if they had been roasted it wasn’t for very long. The best bit was the separate veg dishes which weren’t hot but were warmer than what was on the plates. There was a great deal of wastage, especially money!!nnWe weren’t asked at any time if everything was ok and when the waiter cleared the plates we relayed our feelings which he apologised for.
The Old Custom House on Padstow Harbour is a great little spot that perfectly blends charm with culinary excellence. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, complemented by the awesome views of the bustling harbour. The menu features a delightful selection of dishes, showcasing fresh and locally sourced ingredients.nnThe food is topnotch with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Whether you're indulging in seafood fresh from the Cornish coast or enjoying a classic pub favorite, every bite is a testament to quality and care.nnThe service is equally impressive, with a friendly and attentive staff that makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. They are knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations, ensuring a memorable dining experience.nnOverall, The Old Custom House is a must-visit for anyone in Padstow, offering delicious food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere right on the picturesque harbour. It's an experience that both locals and visitors will cherish.
