We sat at the courtyard, since it was a lovely evening. It was rather cramped, but that’s fair. The table was unfortunately instable and was shaking a lot.nnService was friendly and attentive, but there were a bunch of smaller hiccups forget the wine, extra spoons etc. nnEnjoyed the bites and starters. Scallops and halloumi were excellent and the slightly Asian-flavoured fit them really well. Did not like the babaghanoush, very light on flavor.nMy main dish was a mackerel-burger. It was nice, although I think a slightly more pronounced sauce would go along with it a lot better.nAs desert I had a toffee cake. Nothing overly fancy, but it did the job as sweet treat well.nnOverall I can recommend the Café, but it does not spark excitement.
We have eaten in many places along the South West coastal path over the last 12 months. Some great, some not so great. Some good value some less so. Whilst the food here was quite pleasant, my honest thoughts are there are many other places that offer far more value and enjoyment. Save your cash !
We sat in the restaurant, left the dog at home as didn’t fancy sitting in the courtyard. I think it’s good that dogs aren’t allowed in the restaurant as a couple of big dogs would make it tight on space! The salt and pepper prawns were better than those at the Cornish Arms, the prices are average for Padstow and there are 3 courses for £32. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the beef vindaloo- it was spicy but not too hot and some raita/ chutney would have made it better, I also had to pay extra for a poppadom!
The food was pretty good, and we understood the food would be pretty pricey. However it was let down by the extent of waiting for food to arrive. The servers were friendly, it’s nothing against attitude or demeanour. Just that it took nearly an hour between courses!
After a long rolly trip in a yacht from Newlyn we were stretching our legs and came across this place. They had a table in the courtyard for a walk in couple complete with nesting swallows. The food and wine were very good and the service excellent. A much better end to the day than the wet, dark start.
