This is the most cool, most trendy, and most kitschy afternoon tea in London. I’ve been back multiple times for good reason.nnThe attention to detail at Sketch is impeccable. This is more of a sensorial experience mixed with a great afternoon tea. Each detail has been carefully considered - the uniforms, artwork, and bathroom area the pods below are just so fun.nnI got their gluten-free version, which boasts the same choices as their regular version. The caviar eggs-and-soldiers is a personal favourite of mine.nnIf you crave an aesthetic and fresh afternoon tea experience, this is the one for you.nnBonus - UNLIMITED REFILLS!
I tried The Gallery at Sketch for dinner with my friends, and I must say it is a visual and culinary delight! The artistic atmosphere is vibrant and unique. The food and service were excellent. My lamb shank was tender, flavourful, and well-presented. Overall, it is a wonderful place for both the eyes and the taste buds. I highly recommend it.
My first time at sketch and indeed at a 3-star Michelin restaurant at the Lecture room and Library. Perhaps my expectations were too high but I left wondering why people rate the place so highly; over-priced, underwhelming, and not worth the hype.nnEveryone talks about the atmosphere and setting, but whilst the room was grand, the detailing is dated and rather tacky. For example, the bathroom not the famous pods bathroom, was covered in plastic “jewels” from the toilet roll holder to super-glued sequins on the soap dispensers which looked more like a children’s art project. My partners chair leg was half-falling off. And for some reason one of the staff wore a typical French maids outfit which I thought was rather crass.nnFor the food, we opted for the tasting menu and wine pairing and were left seriously disappointed. None of the dishes grabbed us nor had any imagination or depth and left us rather underwhelmed and bored. The Grand Dessert was probably the highlight. The wine was fairly good but nothing special. We’ve ate all around the world and had much better food for 1/3 of this price point just under £1,000 total for 2 people, by the way.nnThe service was amazing though, extremely attentive and friendly if not a little over-the-top. The hosts and waiters all knew my name beforehand and that we were celebrating my partners birthday.
Lecture room - 3 Micheline star restaurant. First things first - the DESIGN. This hip, quirky, extravagant style just stole my heart. Was like walking in the museum. Now time to talk about more important things - the FOOD: Well the food was amazing, you can get a rating menu with wine pairing. We were celebrating so we got the wine pairing. Which is quite pricey but was very worthy. The - SERVICE was great. You could really feel a friendly atmosphere not just a snobby vibe that you can feel in these type of restaurants. I really liked how nice was the staff. This was one of a kind experience since it’s very rare, I would say even impossible to see these kind of places. With such design, few rooms depending on what you’re looking for and great service.
