Came here for afternoon tea. It was fairly decent. The sandwiches were nice, scones were really fresh and tasty and the desserts were ok. I didn’t think it was particularly outstanding but it was tasty. Some of the desserts were a little too sweet. I enjoyed the hot chocolate. Service was great, our waitress was lovely and gave us gold recommendations for tea. She kindly let us takeaway our leftovers too and wrapped up an extra person for our friend who couldn’t make it.
We've been to The Wolseley several times to enjoy both the experience and the food. It's always a lovely place to visit due to the excellent and attentive staff who make every guest feel special. The location itself on Piccadilly also helps as it's quite dramatic and feels nothing like a car showroom!nnThe food in this grand café is also memorable with dishes ranging from scallops to steaks and everything in between. We certainly enjoyed our brunch although our teenage children were less impressed. Perhaps the meals on offer are best appreciated by an older clientele?nnThe only downside is that you can definitely feel the effects of wage and food inflation when you come to pay. We ended up spending over £300 for five people with no alcohol which is not something that you can do everyday. So come to The Wolseley for the special occasion and you shouldn't be disappointed.
Just had a really splendid all out birthday afternoon tea at the Wolseley my Top Tip - eat as little as you can for 24 h beforehand to do full justice to this menu!.nnSome beautifully executed food, including a fantastic twist - their London Rarebit adds top quality bacon & soft yolked egg to the toasted cheesy sourdoughy magnificence of a Welsh Rarebit. Absolutely delicious. Plus one of the nicest hot chocolates I have ever had and have done some extensive testing over my life!.nnBest of all was the beautiful service from our lovely waiter Ian. One of my dining out benchmarks is whether people pay attention when I ask for the really icy water I adore. Ian brought me my very own well laden silver ice bucket and tongs - superlative! A highly capable, nice and kind man, nothing too much trouble and almost everything already quietly provided before we even knew we wanted them.nnAlso a very beautiful environment to dine in.nnThanks for a wonderful birthday treat - we are already planning our return in the New Year!
We went there for afternoon tea. The food was good enough, this is a general comment on afternoon tea. I never understood the appeal for cucumber sandwiches or any of those sanswiches. I much prefer the cakes and scones.nnWe can't fault the atmosphere and service. There were 5 stars.nnBy all means go there for an experience but food is over hyped.
We were running late, stuck in traffic in a taxi and so phoned to let them know. They told us not to stress and appreciated the call. The menu was nice and varied and other people’s food looked really good. The first staff member we had didn’t seem to understand us or the menu so perhaps they were new. There was a mistake with our drinks but that was rectified quickly.nWe had Wiener Schnitzel Holstein and fries very good and roast chicken with potato rosti very good and a side of creamed spinach best we’ve had for a very long timenTables a little too close and sides a bit too expensive but would definitely go again.
