This station is on the northern line between Southport and Hunts Cross. There is a long ramp from the entrance to the platform which may present difficulties for people with mobility problems. There is a covered seating area and departures boards. The ticket office is near the platform. No toilets are available. A secure cycle rack is available.
It’s not the best, always police and ticket evaders there though ticket checkers too. A lot of swearing at people, I got swore at by a person for moving past, made no sense! However the station did get refurbished recently, with new paint, a new white LED board and new bike facilities. It’s not exactly wheelchair friendly. The new refurbishment is in the image shown below.
Good station nice and clean
Another grotty station, long ramp up to platform poorly lit and dingy, nothing been done to it since opening only all the platform buildings being destroyed and lines slewed, needs a new entrance and better lights on the ramp, massive wide island platform, but so few seats and bins. Always seems to have a sad atmosphere in it, and customers are sometimes not well behaved
Quite a long ramp up to the platforms, so you might arrive at the ticket office slightly out of breath, but OK for electric wheelchairs. Large covered waiting area, which can get a bit crowded as the station platform is quite exposed and can be chilly even in the height of summer if a wind is blowing off the sea which it frequently does. Bike rack on platforms and free car park on the opposite side of the road to the station entrance to the Mersey side of the line.
Standard merseyrail station. Very limited shelter at one end of the platform & nothing at the other end. Could do with additional seating & bins. Trains are regular although commonly running a few minutes late. Location is decent if you want access to the Liverpool & Leeds canal about 10 minute walk to it There is step free access to the station via a long slightly steep ramp so not ideal for all accessibility requirements.
Honestly, if you are using a manual wheelchair and are on your own good luck. It is not disablity friendly. But why would Merseytravel care? seeing as when they where improving stations, they clearly didn't consider Seaforth & Litherland being worthy enough.
This station offers what it states on the tin, but there could still be more waiting shelters.
Better to get the 53 to Waterloo station. Walking op that slope is too much.
Good place to get a train
