Saw a matinee performance of As You Like It in the Holloway Garden Theatre - the outdoor theatre behind the main building. The play was fantastic of course. It was a hot day with strong sunshine, and there is little shade, so I think some people found it too hot. My advice is definitely go for the centre seats if you're at a matinee on a sunny day, as the sun was behind us. The side seats all were in direct heat. There's nothing quite like Shakespeare in an outdoor theatre, and with the truly superb cast you can't do better. The play was a little abridged and this was good as the seats are fold-down plastic, so by the time it finished we were just starting to fidget. Happy to say though, tickets were £20 for an adult and £10 for a child, and the programme was only £4, so it really was excellent value for the price. Can't compliment the actors enough, and all had discreet microphones so the sound was excellent, well done to the sound engineers on the day. Great use was made of the set and costumes were fantastic - I bet the actors were sweltering in the heat but they didn't let it show. An experience I'll remember for years!
I watched As you like it outside in the back area and it was amazing. The seats were positioned well allowing you to always see the stage. The show was awesome with a great cast preforming even though the main actor was injured so got substituted. It also won’t take up too much time because they only about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Amazing place definitely should be on your go to.
Caught a showing of the Romeo and Juliet ballet and even though this was last minute and thus limited for the choice of seats left over ...the upper circle view from seat C17 was great. If you book a seat up here though, note they are narrow seats and almost like a high chair in terms of position!
Was an exhilarating experience .nNo words.nEnjoyed every moment there.nEntry is free. They have maintained the exhibits really well. I wanted to stay a little more but they closed the facility before time.
An amazing experience. We've seen Love's Labour's lost. It was modern, it was funny, it was clever and most important inclusive. I truly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it!
